In summer I can taste the salt in the sea,
There's a k i t e blowing out of control on a breeze...
Kite sighed with relief as the loner struggled to his paws. Stepping back as he hissed at him, he spoke quickly, hoping to convince the wolf that he meant no harm. "I'm Kite... You were unconscious. Birds... I'm Kite." He bobbed his head, the glanced again at the loner's wounds, uttering a soft whine. "You shouldn't be... Moving. Wait for Aurora to come back... Then I can finish sorting out... Your wounds." Following the wolf's example, he glanced over his shoulder towards the shriek, stifling a gasp of horror. The birds were closer now, they had to hurry. He would treat Aurora and the loner, and then he would go back to Amara. Hopefully she was feeling stronger now. And then, well, what would happen after that would depend on whether the birds found them, and whether he managed to stay on his feet that long.
Hearing the loner's apologetic 'Oh', Kite glanced back towards him, smiling faintly when he noticed what he had seen. "Yes... I'm a healer. Bet I don't look like one... In this state." He gestured with his muzzle at his bloody body, chuckling softly. No, he looked more like a fighter that had took on a bear by himself. Only then did he finally come to terms with how badly he was injured. Blood was seeping from his numerous wounds, creating rivers of red that crept down his normally brown coat. Thankfully, the flow had lessened quite a lot, but he had obviously lost a lot of blood, and the coppery smell of it was making him feel light-headed. Oh well, I can deal with myself later. I need to help the others first. Moving his attention back to the loner, he suddenly became aware that Aurora had arrived, and he trotted towards her, beaming.
"Thank you... Now, let me... Sort you both out... Properly." Kite began to tread around them both, pressing paste onto their wounds with muffled apologies in case it stung. It took him only a few moments, and then he stepped back, surveying his handiwork. "It'll have to... Do for... Now." Sending a slightly annoyed glance in Aurora's direction after hearing her quiet comment, he bustled away, dropping the berry paste and leaf onto the hide and tidying the rest of the herbs into an orderly pile. Therefore, he did not notice Aurora change from a worried wolf into a hungry predator. Hearing her laugh, he flicked his ear back to her. "Now... Are you two okay to... Go on alone? I should... Be getting back to Amara, and the... Rest of the pack. If you see... Any others that are injured, just.... Send them to the clearing."
I wonder what will happen to you,
You wonder what has happened to me.
