"Kite..." Aurora said, about to collapse on the ground from pure exhaustion. She gulped in much needed breaths of fresh air, the tinge of coppery, metallic blood flooding her mouth. It wasn't just her, either, everyone around them had multiple wounds, and was releasing the scent of fear and blood into the air. She hacked for a moment, her body convulsing, and coughed up blood. "Kite... He is hurt, really bad. There was water in his lungs, and.... Oh, Kite it's my fault. I almost let him drown." She hung her head, her voice becoming weak and insignificant. She did her best to take the sadness from her voice, and replace it with strength, but the result was a cracking and fatigued response "Kite, if you use your... 'Ability', you would be to weak to help anyone else. Try to heal him as natural as you can... Just hurry!"
Aurora didn't know why this loner meant much to her, but she had gotten some sort of emotional attachment, as if he was her responsibility.
She picked up one of the dead birds that she had taken from the cave, and said "This is what we are up against." It had shiny, unnatural plating on its body that took the place of feathers. It's odd, beady eyes were red, but now they had gone dark. It's wings were far to long, with sharp edges almost like blades. The beak was also too long, and too sharp. The plume on it's head was more of a short, stubby pole with a bulbous end. It's talons were ghastly, and Aurora didn't think any animal was capable of having weapons of such destruction. They were long, and as sharp as anything she'd ever seen. She felt the pain just looking at this unnatural anomaly. Then she realized she wasn't imagining the pain, just noticing it. She glanced at her wounds, and saw that they were partially closed, but still bleeding steadily.
She felt like fainting again, but she looked at Manga and shook the thought from her mind. She gritted her teeth and tried to stand stronger than ever. Oh... I can't do this. She thought, her knees wobbling and her head spinning. She stared at Kite and whimpered slightly as if to say: 'Me next, please!'
