Aurora beamed with happiness when she saw Manga expel the water from his throat and lungs. She could feel a lump forming in her throat, and tears in her eyes, but she swallowed them, putting on a strong facade. She rushed to embrace him, laying her nose on his cheek, and realized that she was bleeding all over him. She backed away, and realized what a mess of blood and water was everywhere. She tugged on Manga, encouraging him to stand, when she realized he was much too weak. She didn't want to give into her weakness, but she also felt like laying down and taking a nap. She didn't think she'd have the strength to lug him around at all. She didn't think it would be wise to tug him around with her teeth, because that would hurt more than help. She sighed while trying to think of a better solution while she heard a faint screeching farther in the tunnel, from their left. It was far off, but still, it was a danger to a beat up wolf and her fallen comrade. She hoped it wasn't more of those horrid, abominations of birds that she had went up against. Suddenly she felt weak and useless, and just wanted to run. But she couldn't just leave Manga here alone. She stared at her wounds, not wanting to accumulate more battle scars.
Aurora started to hoist Manga onto her back, when she realized that with the condition that both of them were in, it would be impossible. She remembered long ago, when her and 2 other hunters had brought down a deer. They were able to drag it, but she would need at least another wolf for that. She cursed and said "Manga, this might hurt a bit." She dug her teeth into his soft fur, trying to avoid his flesh, and dragged him towards the cavern that didn't have the horrible screeching "Wait." She got an idea. She ran to the nearest 2 defeated birds, and fit them both into her jaws. She dumped them on Manga's chest "Whatever you do, hold these." She wanted the chance to look at them later, once they were safe. What could she say? She was curious. She began to drag Manga more, the weight of him and the two birds slowing her down. She used all of her might to lug him forward, her muscles crying out in agony, and her bones creaking in defeat. She gasped for air, but didn't give up. She would've yelled for help, but she didn't know who... Or what was out there.
