- The sun had set. The stars appeared in the ink black sky as the cats of SunClan settled down for a good night's rest. Suddenly, a bright white streak apeared among the stars and landed quite a ways away, sending the hard-packed earth flying in all directions.
A patrol was sent out to investigate. What did they find? A comet had landed in the desert. The cats had seen them before, as shooting stars, but never before had one landed in the territory. The patrol stayed for many heartbeats, staring in awe and confusion, before they headed back to camp to report their findings.
The next day, every cat who was on the patrol became horribly ill. Coughing, nausea, temporary loss of hearing or sight -- and the medicine cat had no cure.
Just as soon as the illness came, it disapeared. The Clan was stunned. But, just as mysteriously, the formerly ill cats began to develop new strengths.
Those who had lost hearing were suddenly able to hear a fly many fox lengths away. Those who lost their balance would never lose it.
The leader became frightened. He thought the gifted cats would try to take over, to remove him from power. So, he exiled them to the land beyond the mountains.
And Now?
- The exiled cats crossed the mountain with very few problems aside from hunger. They were used to hunting lizards and beetles back in the desert, not small rodents or birds.
But, they taught themselves in order to stay alive. They made a camp, apointed a leader, and established borders.
But some cats aren't happy. They want to see their friends and family again, they want to go home!
