Phyre
The she-cat watched as the tom's ears swiveled, catching the sound of her call, and then as his head tilted to look in her direction. Did he see her? She wasn't quite sure. She slowed, nearing the end of the bushes with each passing second. She couldn't keep hidden forever.
Her dark eyes widened in shock and disbelief when Ezekiel turned, actually facing the beast. He was puffing himself up, making himself look bigger, and he was actually snarling at the thing. What kind of cat was he? To have the nerve to snarl in the face of a stray? Her eyes were locked on the tom, and she nearly skidded to a stop just in time; right before the end of the hedge line. She peeked through the leaves, watching tensely in a frame of misshapen green. And as he stood there, shifting his weight menacingly from paw to paw, she caught the glances he was giving.
Showing off?! How on earth could he do that in this situation? Her eyes narrowed fiercely, a bit angry now. He was being increasingly stupid, trying to challenge the dog, and then making sure the others saw it.
Her breath caught in her throat when he leapt, biting at the beast's ear before crashing his paws directly on top of the dog's face, shoving it towards the ground. She felt a low hiss fight to exit her throat, but she kept it down with effort. Gods, this cat was insane!
She watched as he sprinted over to the bushes, coming to a stop just before her, and scrutinized him for a moment, ignoring the kind smile in her disbelief and slight anger at his alleged arrogance. She looked at the dog for a split second, then turned, bunched her muscles, and sprang back down the way she had come, bursting in a sprint within a second. She glanced over her shoulder, making sure that Ezekiel had followed suit...if not, she wasn't sure what she could do for him.
