Ebonysky smiled, "I suppose you're right." She mewed, and relaxed again. She purred, "This is great. I'm going to be a mother!" She bounced a little bit with excitement.

Shrewclaw purred, "We could always find an apprentice with nothing better to do. Have them fetch some mouse bile and clean your pelt out for you." She said, and then she laughed. "One of the advantages of being an elder... Making the apprentices do your dirty work."

"Yes, I'm sure," mewed Cherrypaw quietly. Attempting to regain some of her lost pride, the tabby-and-white she-cat parted her jaws and exposed her scent glands to the cool, sweet forest air. Tentatively, she rummaged through the chilly aromas of dry, frosty foliage and cool, damp earth, searching for the tangy, musty scent of the markers. "LegendClan," she mewed, wrinkling her nose as she caught a whif of the dank, acrid-smelling border. "Definitely LegendClan."

"Oh yes," mewed Honeypaw, rolling her eyes; her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Of course I know the proper technique for hunting a mouse. Honestly, Wolfclaw," she added, fixing him with those intense, searing amber eyes of hers. "It's my first day of training. What do you think?"

"Okay" Whitesparrow mewed. She watched as her apprentice scented the air, her eyes lighting up when she spoke. "That's right. This is the Legendclan border." She purred, "Nicely done." Then she headed back a bit further into their territory. Slowly though, to make sure Cherrypaw could follow without hurting herself. She opened her mouth, searching for prey in the cold forest, her attention turned to some rustling in the leaves nearby. A sparrow was digging through the fallen leaves, looking for food. Whitesparrow looked back at Cherrypaw and spoke quietly. "You're going to catch this okay?" She mewed. She lowered herself against the ground, her tail straight out behind her, and just above the forest floor. "Crouch down like this."

Wolfstripe frowned, his voice was harsher and filled with annoyance, "Watch your tone with me, I'm not exactly the nicest of cats. Even if you're still just a kit." He spat at Honeypaw. Then he crouched low to the gound, keeping as much weight off his paws as possible. He looked over at Honeypaw, "Come on then. Mice and other rodents will feel you before they see you. So balance your weight out, and try to be as light on your feet as you can."

Cherrypaw nodded in understanding, and, carefully imitating Whitesparrow's movements, lowered herself into a hunters' crouch. Now in position, she looked back to her mentor for furthur instructions.

Forcing herself not to snort disbelievingly, Honeypaw lowered herself to the ground, her tail curved slightly at the tip, just an inch or two from the forest floor. The corners of her mouth twitching upwards in an anticipative smirk, she began to creep forward.

Whitesparrow purred as Cherrypaw crouched down. She'd gotten the position almost perfectly, on her first try too. "Now slowly creep forwards towards it. When you're about a tail-length away, pounce on it!" She mewed quietly, "And make sure not to step on any twigs."

Wolfstipe watched his apprentice intently as she stalked forwards towards the mouse. His tail-tip tiwtched slightly, and he waited for her to strike. "Stop when you're close enough to land on it, and bite it's neck to kill it quickly." He said to her quietly, before she was too far to hear.

Silversky smiled, "This is great news. The clan needs new kits." She turned and started to pad towards camp, ears twitching in excitement. "I think that Wolfstripe is training with Honeypaw."

Oakpaw looked up at Hailfrost and shifted his weight.

Ebonysky purred, and she followed Silversky back to camp, "He is. I'll tell him the news when he gets back." She purred, held head high with pride, she was going to be a mother. She always acted like a mother to everyone in the clan, now she'd have her very own kits to fawn over.

Cherrypaw gave a short nod, then turned her attention back to the spray of gently rustling leaves. Ever so slowly, she began to creep forward, nervous anticipation tingling in every one of her nerves. Her breathing was slow, quiet, and steady; she inhaled only through her nose. Two pawsteps... one...

Bunching her muscles, the small tabby-and-white she-cat leapt into the air, landing squarely on the tiny bird that had taken cover behind the dry, crinkly foliage. Quickly -- almost instinctively -- she craned her neck and sank her teeth into the creature's neck. Within a heartbeat, it had gone limp, all traces of life drained from its body.

"How was that?" she mewed timidly, turning to face her mentor once more. "Did... Did I do everything right?"
