Lani saw the van approaching. "RUN!" she howled, and dashed through the alley.

Joy saw a dumpster to hide behind, and left the pup to it's own fate.

Kyru pulled the entire bag out of the trash can. He could smell rotting meat, bread, cheese and lots of other things inside. "We have our dinner, Lilac!" he barked happily. "Humans are such stupid creatures, to throw out good food like that!" Lilac growled, trotting over. Sniffing the bag, they both tore into it at the same time, pulling out a quarter of a steak, a rotting cheeseburger, and something that was unidentifiable but smelled delicious. "Dig in." Kyru smiled and gobbled down his meat. There was still plenty in the bag. The pair gorged themselves, taking a couple scraps of meat back to a safe place. Kyru buried them deep underneath a gravel alleyway, and marked the spot just in case something still caught a whiff of it.
