Kage's white fur gleamed dully in the pale gray light of dawn, the sgaebursh rustling loudly as she shouldered through it. She was feeling restless; she, in fact, hadn't gotten a second of sleep last night. She had thought about confronting the Medic to see if she had any herbs to help her sleep, but decided against it. Instead, she had gone out on patrol by herself, even if it wasn't her job. It was something to do. She knew Vesp wouldn't approve of it, either, but she could take care of herself. A cool breeze tickled her long, narrow muzzle, and her ears swiveled to pick up any noise outside of the sagebrush as she shoved passed it. Finally, the tall she-wolf entered the trees, leaving the sagebrush behind. Before long, she came across the small stream that trickled through the forest, marking the border between the Atra and the Lumen pack. Kage angled her muzzle into the air, catching a fresh scent of Silenn. So, he had gone on an early morning patrol, too. But no scents where they shouldn't be. A low growl rumbled in her chest, her lip beginning to pull back in the beginnings of a snarl. He took everything away from her. But as much as she wanted to pelt over the border and tear him to shreds, she didn't. She had no right. He hadn't tresspassed or anything of the sort, and she wouldn't dare without Vesp ordering her to attack.
Sighing, Kage turned, her hackles laying flat again. Her head lowered between her shoulders, and she began to saunter back towards camp. Now she was feeling it; drowsiness. It was as if she suddenly was struck by her tiredness, and she even blacked out for a split second, causing her to stumble befor she jerked her head back up. That always happened to her. She would have a restless night, then, boom. Right as the rest of the pack was starting to wake up, that's when her body would decide to fall asleep. She lengthened her strides until she was sprinting towards the camp. Finally, she entered camp again and the sun was beginning to raise higher in the sky. Usually more wolves were up by now. Perhaps it was just a lazy day. Yawning and revealing her long, sharp white canines, Kage slipped into her den and curled up, and was soon met by sleep.

Moments after Kage's return, Vesp emerged from his den, stretching and shaking out his blueish black pelt. Everything seemed peaceful, but the sooner he sent out the morning patrol the better he'd feel. The Atra pack had tried morning and night attacks before, when most of the wolves were still sleeping. He'd let his pack wake up on their own, but if they slept in much later he'd have to wake them up himself. He padded across the clearing and launched himself onto the large boulder he used to address his pack. He sat down, curling his tail around his body and surveying camp. He simply stood watch, almost as if he was a sentinel. He was simply waiting, waiting for someone to strike up a conversation with him, waiting for someone to report something. Really, he was just waiting for something to happen because he was bored out of his mind. He was only bored when everyone else was asleep, which he assumed everyone still was, but he did think he saw a bit of movement coming from Soul's den.
