[Looking for Alaska]

pebblekits fur bristled slighlty at the mention of heather, shes been in the clan not even all of two days and slivertooth is making her an apprentice? she thought with hatred - she had to wait moons to become one. she let her herself be pushed forward by whitepaw and smoothed her features over hiding her anger. she walked up to sunlight, now the same height as her mentor and stood infornt of her. her cold green eyes unreadable.

Sunlight caught Pebblekit's look and her eyes narrowed slightly. Granted the apprentice had had to wait longer than most apprentices, but with what had been going on in the Clan it was understandable. She gave her soon-to-be-apprentice a look, hoping she realized she was lucky to be getting a ceremony at all after what she'd done. The she-cat made a mental note to herself to teach the apprentice to realize how lucky she really was. But, unfortunately, now was not the time to deal with the she-cat. Later, however, was a different story.

"Pebblekit and Heather, though you both come from very different circumstances, you are both deserving of your apprentice names." Slivertooth meowed, pausing on Pebblekit for a moment. Behave. His expression read. He knew how much Pebblekit yearned for her apprentice name, but there was no reason for her to spoil it for her sister either. "Heather, though you'll have to stay in the medicine cat den for a while, it'll most likely mean your warrior ceremony, if you choose to stay with us, will be delayed. However if you accept, we'd like to name you Heatherpaw."

"I-I do!" Heatherpaw stuttered, her whole body freezing with every word Slivertooth spoke. StoneClan was accepting her! Her, a dieing, sickly kit. The thought warmed her heart, to point where she felt like she was going to explode with happiness.

"Heatherpaw, StoneClan welcomes you warmly into the Clan. And I know that Lilydawn will pass down her virtues to you as your mentor."

Lilydawn, who had been watching happily in the crowd of warriors, blinked in surprise at the leader. Me? She thought, shocked for a moment. She stood up uncertainly and made her way to the apprentice, trying to hide her nerves and excitement, while wanting to giggle giddily at the same time. I'm a mentor! She wanted to scream it, but instead settled for leaning down to touch noses with the she-cat. It wasn't the first time she'd become a mentor, but every time she did it made her feel the same way, like she was a mentor for the first time again.

((All I can say is wow. I honestly am so uncertain when writing Lilydawn, her emotions are always all over the place, lol))

why does everyone expect the worse from me? she thought as sunlight and slivertoth each gave her a dirty look, she shot slivertooth a irratated glance before smoothing her features. honestly! she thought, they act like i'm going to jump up and claw heather! - that wasnt a bad idea actually, she thought as she peered at heather from where she stood infront of lilydawn - but no matter how hard she tried she couldnt push down the concern she felt towards heather as she cough and he thin body shook. snap out of it pebble! she couldnt afford to put her guard down, not now. gazing up at slivertooth she tried to school her face into a pleased and excited look, it was slightly painful and felt fake.

Heatherpaw was trembling, but under Lilydawn's touch, her nerves just suddenly stopped shaking, and she managed to raise her head and meet her mentor's eyes. "Oh thank you Lilydawn! I'm just sorry we couldn't go out training sooner." She gave a crooked gin, refraining from lowering her head or showing any sign of remorse or self pity. She was tired of that. Right now she just wanted to be happy and think of what was to come, rather then if it would come at all.

Slivertooth beamed down at the exchange between newly appointed apprentice and mentor. I know you can do it Lilydawn. No cat would be prouder to have a she-cat like you as a mentor. "Now, this ceremony I believe we've been waiting far to long to do. Never have I ever met such a lively, or curious kit as the one standing before me today. And never have I ever seen so much potential in such a young cat. Pebblekit, if I understand correctly, instead of following in Heatherpaw's footsteps, you'd like to follow that of the medicine cat."

despite pebblekits foul mood she couldnt help but smile slightly eyes glowing she nodded determindly her tail flicking back and forth nervously. she looked over at sunlight and felt a flash of what she felt before for sunlight when she was younger, admiration and respect.

[Wanderer.]

Lilydawn smiled at her new apprentice. "Don't worry, little one. Sunlight will get you all fixed up and we'll have lots of time to train." She meowed quietly, only loud enough for Heatherpaw to hear, before turning to watch Slivertooth conduct Pebblekit's ceremony.

((Wow, I'm sorry about the short post, but I'm working on about three things at once, and it's making it hard to concentrate , almost done though!))

"Well I mind as well get this over with before someone here bursts of excitement." Slivertooth mumbled, too low for anyone other then Pebblekit to hear. "Pebblekit, do you accept the position of apprentice to Sunlight? We all know she won't be around forever, but hopefully forever isn't for awhile yet. Your faith in your Clan, and as we have seen, extreme paitence, will get you far as a medicine cat. But you must know, that by accepting this oath, you will not be able to take up a mate, or kits, and devote the rest of your life to caring for your clanmates." There was still a trace of amusement in his mew, but it was now loud enough to carry out over the whole Clan.

Heatherpaw once again forced herself from saying something narcissistic about her condition. For once, she wanted to feel optimistic. So she re-directed her attention to Pebblekit, her heart swelling with pride for her sister.
