No one had noticed the collie that had emerged from Quinn's car when she had got out. The dog was slim, and her fur was clean and tangle less. She walked as if she was the queen, the Alphess. Her tail swung lightly from side to side as she stepped into the barn, casually taking in the smell, sounds, and sights. She saw Quinn but did not approach her human. She found herself sitting down by a door, head raised, gem-studded collar shining beneath the white fur of her neck.

The truck swereved missing Rusty he got up and sighed, his ankle broken and a torn heart. He sat and waited on the side of the road.
