Akina hissed. "Was foolish enough to fall in love with Pinecone. Zilch, the end."

Aries raised both eyebrows and slightly leaned his head forward. "C'mon, there's more than that. Don't try to pull the wool over my eyes."

Raine nodded, his eyes weary. "Same boat, different seas. Life turns the pages of the book it burned," he said, making sense to himself but probably not to her.

"Scratched Melody's face. And heck, did she deserve it," Akina hissed at him, managing to catch the meaning of his words.

Raine shook his head. "Biggest b**** I ever met. How fake can a wolf get? She was always perfect, always innocent. It made me want to barf," he said, his words bitter and loathing. He'd never approached her because she seemed to reek of 'fake'.

"Should've seen her soaking up to Pinecone - right in my face when she knew.." Akina winced at the thought, hurt welling up inside her all over again.

"I know the feeling. Ari openly told me she loved me, and then turned around and said she loved another guy more. Lucky me," he said, his words sharp and loathing. He'd been hurt more than anyone realized. He guessed Akina had the same thing inside of her, that snake biting her heart, injecting a bitter venom.

Akina hissed, then added, "Love is.... " she shuddered. She wanted to take her rage out on something..... "When I scratched Melody's face, she went off howling like a pup does to her mother in the opposite direction. Stupid Pinecone! Falling in love with a -!"

"Love is stupid, love is blind, love will slowly drive you out of your mind," Raine recited. "Do you want to practice fight? We have nothing better to do. I need someone to fight, and I think you do too."
