I couldn't here myself think over my thudding heart and my deafeningly drumming ears... and I didn't know where I was going... I only knew that when it was all over and I returned, that it was all over for me as well...
The forest that countless animal called "home" was very remote, not to mention huge. It stretched on for miles on end. It was the middle of summer, hot and everything was dry, subject to burn easily... Rivers were drying out and that was already bad enough for wolves to have to hunt on the hard-baked earth, scraping up their pads. They thought that things would get better, like they always did. But few knew that luck didn't last forever, the rest of them thinking that this was absolute paradise besides the occasional opstacle. It started on the edge of the large forest, spreading quickly and trapping most living things in it... and those that escaped the roaring fire were weak and injured, and exhausted. After the wildfire had passed, the wolves came back to see what was left of there home. Simply nothing but ash and burnt trees. Most of the wolves wanted to stay, because this is where they were born and raised. So, they traveled further, searching for a place in the forest that remained unscarred. Unfortunately, they found none. Other wolves had turned back right at the start, not bothering once they saw there home. And some pressed on, hoping to find a land beyond the forest, a new paradise. But the journey was extremely difficult because of three reasons:
1:They were injured, exhausted...
2:The fire had chased most of the prey out. Food is very scarce.
3:The forest was huge. As if injuries and scarce prey wasn't enough, the journey was long and exhausting itself.
It was hard, but not impossible. Just as long as they could find food, water, and shelter, the weak wolves would survive, barely perhaps, but still find a new land to thrive.
Plot
So, basically, any packs split and most wolves are now alone, roaming the forest for food and water until they manage to discover a new place to live. Some wolves have grouped, into small packs with four wolves max, simply because there's safety in numbers, it'll be easier to catch large prey, and there won't be many mouths to feed. Other wolves, however, choose to remain forever alone until they reach the new land, and even then they may live as a lone wolf. What I'm trying to say is that you're either a lone wolf or a wolf in a small group in a forest burnt down by a fire and hardly anything has grown back since the fire, so you have to make this journey through a huge forest (or what's left of it) find a new stinking place to live. Got it? I know I repeated myself but I needed the point clear across. And I'm not very creative so if you think this is dumb, then... just leave. OKAY?
