The Marshlands

Skunk ran into the lake, "Wowwwwwwww!!!!!!!!" Skunk yowled happily.

Earthstorm walked through the damp marshes, his paws soon soaked from padding in the mucky water. His fur was fluffed up against the wind, it would be a very cold night. He guided Hawkpaw and Duskpaw along, protecting them as much as he could against the harsh elements. What seemed like hours later, the small patrol reached the MarshClan camp. "It just through here!" Earthstorm yelled, so his voice wouldn't be drowned out by the wind. He continued on and the four cats padded into the cottage that now surved as the MarshClan camp. "Follow me," Earthstorm instructed, as he had been the only cat to have been here before. He proceeded to the nursery, that was where FeatherStar would likely be. "FeatherStar," Earthstorm mewed, "we need your help."

Duskpaw followed Earthstorm through the marshes. Her slim figure shivered in the night air and she didn't complain as Earthstorm did his best to sheild her from the wind. When they had arrived at the MarshClan camp, Duskpaw turned to the first kit she saw, Dovekit. "Where is Snow?" She asked hastily.

[Solarizing]

Orangewing gasped, "Earthstorm! Why are you here?"
Magpiepaw was shocked, "Dad?"

Dovekit snorted. "Why should I tell you, traitor?" she hissed to Duskpaw.

Earthstorm turned his head towards his former mate but his expression was emotionless and his eyes betrayed none of his feelings. "A kit from OasisClan, Lynxkit, stumbled into SunClan territory and was abducted by a Lynx. When Jetfrost approached Lynxkit, the Lynx knocked him out and fled, into the Marshlands. So we came here to try and get her back. But we are small in numbers and I think the best way to get Lynxkit back would be to ambush the Lynx and outnumber it while Duskpaw and Hawkpaw, get Lynxkit. But in order to do this, we need more warriors, which is why we have come here." Earthstorm spoke to both Orangewing and FeatherStar at the same time.

Duskpaw's fur bristled. Why if you were an apprentice, I'd claw your ears off! Duskpaw thought angrily. But she made no move to attack Dovekit, she was only a kit and even Duskpaw knew it was wrong to attack a kit, no matter how rude or annoying they were. "I am not a traitor, I was born in SunClan before I came to the Marshlands so I have a right to go back to my birthclan! Now where is Snow?" Duskpaw struggled to keep her mew even and not hiss at Dovekit.

"Why should we help you?" Featherstar asked. She was trying to be a better leader like Orangewing had suggested.

Earthstorm looked at FeatherStar in confusion. "What do you mean why should we help you? If you don't Lynxkit will die! It is part of the warrior code for crieing out loud! 'No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different clan!' FeatherStar you of all cats should know this!" Earthstorm was outraged at FeatherStar's hesitance to help save Lynxkit. Was she just going to let Lynxkit die?!

"How do I know that this isn't a trick?" Featherstar asked.

Snow approached from the shadows, her mew low and quiet "I am here." she hissed. She nodded to Featherstar and said to Earthstorm "OasisClan was reluctant to give us one of our own kits, why should we help you find OasisClan's? Featherstar told us what had happened, and if I heard correctly, Minnowstar said that our kit was 'weak and useless'." She narrowed her eyes, her voice raising "Is this Lynxkit any better?"

Earthstorm narrowed his eyes at the MarshClan leader. "Do you really think SunClan would lie to you about the safety of a kit?" Earthstorm was pushing with all of his strength not to leap at FeatherStar. He turned to Snow. "So because of OaisClan's mistakes your going to let a poor defeanceless kit die? Lynxkit is not better then any of MarshClan's kits. But imagine if the roles were reversed. If your kit had been taken FeatherStar." He mewed, turning to her again. " And if OasisClan refused to help you when you asked. So your kit would die, scared and alone out in the marshes....since you are a mother I am sure you would know how Lynxkit's mother is feeling right now. Lynxkit didn't hold MarshClan's kits hostage. Just because OasisClan was being fox hearted, that doesn't mean you have to be as well. And if you don't help, then fine by me, let the guilt of Lynxkit's death haunt you for the rest of your nine lives." Earthstorm stormed out of the nursery and stepped out into the freezing wind outside. He let it rip violently at his pelt and closed his eyes.

Duskpaw looked up at Snow with confusion. Why was she being so hostile towards her?

"OasisClan did refuse to help us. My kit wandered away and Minnowstar held her captive. If she would have had to stay in OasisClan it would be like she was dead. I am not going to risk my warriors lives for OasisClan." Featherstar meowed.
