( Sorry that I haven't posted yet~ I'm writing my post now, I did have it ready, but my brother switched my laptop off and then I had to go to school. He did get a smack though, so I'm alright. ;3 )

Kite sat on the ice, his eyes tightly closed and his beak pressed shut. He was thinking, searching through his mind for a way to defeat the seals. He had tried many times before, ever since his sisters had been taken from him, but every day he came up blank. If only he wasn't so small! If he was bigger, maybe the seals would be afraid of him, that they would try to escape in fear as he snapped them up in his beak. He chuckled softly to himself, opening his eyes and blinking blearily. That'd be the day. But he knew that time would never come. It was better for him to just accept his size and try and move on, try and survive every year. Kite sighed, shaking his head as his sister's screams began to reverberate around his mind again. The noise was pain-filled and terrified, and it filled him with dread. What if it was an omen? What if his sister was still alive, and this was a message from her. "Azure, if you're still here somewhere, what are trying to tell me? I don't understand!" But his words were spoken half heartedly. It would have been impossible for her to survive this long, even if the seals hadn't killed her. If she wasn't here, then were was she? He doubted that she could have found another colony.

Pushing the thoughts to the back of his mind, Kite pulled himself to his feet, moving awkwardly forwards to the edge of the ice. In a smooth, practised movement, the Little Blue penguin flopped expertly onto his stomach, using his strong flippers to propel him into the water. Once submerged, Kite swam forwards quickly, diving deeper and deeper, searching for food. Small fish in particular. A small flash of silver caught his eye, and Kite changed direction in a sharp motion, shooting onwards the tint shoal of fish. He snapped his beak briefly, and it was over. His prey was caught. As he wasn't overly hungry, this would do, and he turned back towards the surface, taking his time now.

Jean waddled on the ice, her head held high like always. The icy breeze made her want to ruffle her short feathers that weren't made for the air. She took in a breath of air, and then slowly let it out with a soft hum. Twirling, her fins swayed side to side as she gazed beyond the ice, only seeing water. Guessing she should probably head back, Jean started back, wondering if anyone noticed if she was gone at all. Of course others would notice! She was Jean, the prettiest of them all, and most popular of all the penguins in her colony. Thats what everyone was thinking, and she knew it.
