I can't help but feel bad for Kinapak; she'll be too soft-hearted to tell Sparrow off. xD ))
•~- Kinapak -~•
A gentle nudge to her chest woke Kinapak, who had her head tucked behind her wing in her sleeping position. With a gentle coo, the female straightened herself out, ruffling her wings slightly and shaking her head. "Rise and shine, sweetheart," Her mother said softly. Kinapak smiled, stretching herself and trying to 'wake herself up'. Opening her eyes, she saw her mother; a rather large penguin, but probably one of the wisest - and best Chick-Sitters - of the Frosted Thoughts colony. "Good morning, mother," Kinapak replied sweetly, as innocent as a hatchling herself. Through a gentle upbringing, she had been crafted into an obedient young penguin, with a heart big enough for every chick she looked after. Her mother nudged a few small fish forward, which Kinapak had neglected to see that she'd dropped, and smiled. "I have to return to the chicks, but I've brought some information for you. I think most of the chicks will be out, learning with their parents and what-not, and only one will be in your care today." Nuzzling her mother affectionately, Kinapak watched her waddle off, a small smile tugging at the femme's mouth.
Kinapak sighed, beginning to walk toward the colony. She was a deep sleeper; now, it only took one penguin to awaken her, but years ago it had taken both her father and brother as well. Greeting others as she passed by, the young penguin finally found her pupil, who was still sleep-groggy and snuggled to its mother's side. Her mother, a fairly slim Little Blue penguin, nudged the young one forward. "So sorry, Kina; I am off fishing today." Kinapak nuzzled the fairly old hatchling into her side, and nodded politely to the mother. "As am I. I will teach your daughter the basics of swimming; but have no worries, for I know where and when the seals strike." The mother was a bit bewildered at the femme's speaking, but nodded, wandering off to join others. Smiling to the hatchling, Kinapak walked slowly, ensuring the cold little bundle was warming against her side. "Have you ever been in the water?" She asked softly, nearing the edge of the blue abyss. The chick looked shaky, and shook its head, watching the water like it was about to attack. Kinapak simply laughed, looking off down the shore. "It is safe. See? Those two penguins, I know them fairly well. They no longer fear the water; you shouldn't either. In fact, see their tricks? They treat the water like a friend; a partner." Sensing the young one's hesitantion, Kinapak let out a gentle sigh, allowing the bird to aqquiant itself with the sight of the deep blue ocean as she gently preened its feathers.
