• Leader - A cat who controls the entire Clan. Holding the most important rank in the Clan, a leader is granted nine lives by StarClan so they "can be first in every battle and last to take a piece of fresh-kill" basically giving them extra time to serve and lead their Clan

Tribe Hierarchy
• Healer - The Tribe's Healer is basically the same thing as a Clan's medicine cat and leader put together. The Healer receives signs from their warrior ancestors in the Cave of Pointed Stones. Unlike Clan cats, Healers do not dream. The Healer also almost never leaves the cave, because unlike leaders they do not have nine lives and it's easier for them to be killed. The only times they come out of the cave is for to-be ceremonies and such. Every Healer changes their name to Teller of the Pointed Stones, or Stoneteller, once they become the Tribe's official Healer. The new Healer is appointed by the previous Healer.
• Prey-Hunter - Prey-hunters are tribe cats whose only duties are to catch prey for the tribe. They are lithe, quick cats who can jump high to catch mountain birds such as eagles or hawks to feed to their tribemates. A group of cave-guards accompany them to spot trouble.
• Cave-Guard - Cave-guards are lean, tough cats that protect and guard the entrance of the tribe's cave. They are also responsible for watching the skies to protect the prey-hunters from hawks and eagles while they hunt.
• To-Be - The equivalent of an apprentice, to-bes are trained in either prey-hunting or cave-guarding; when they are finished training, they are made into either prey-hunters or cave-guards by the tribe Healer. Tribe cats believe that they are born into their duty, though they can change positions.
• Kit-Mother - As their name suggests, kit-mothers are she-cats who are about to have or are nursing kits. When they have their kits, they remain kit-mothers for a time to nurse them. They are the equivalent of a Clan queen.
• Elder - Elders are former prey-hunters and cave-guards, now retired; the same as a Clan elder.
• Kit - Kits are young cats that are not yet to-bes; the same as Clan kits.

Tribe Cat Terminology
• Beetle-brain – Friendly insult; similar to mouse-brain
• Caught-prey – A dead prey animal caught for the purpose of consumption; similar to fresh-kill.
• Time of Freed Water– The season of spring, known to the forest Clans as newleaf.
• Time of Frozen Water – The season of winter, known to the forest Clans as leaf-bare.
• Tribe of Endless Hunting - Similar to StarClan, these are the Tribe's ancestors.

Clan Meetings

'A Clan Meeting is an event held in the Clan camp when a Clan Leader convokes the Clan members to share important information with them.

Purpose

A Clan Meeting has one or more of the following purposes:

• Announcing important events or sharing information (such as relating what happened at a Gathering)
• Conduct a ceremony (such as appointing new apprentices, warriors and deputies, confirming the retirement of elders, or changing the name of a cat)
• Warn Clan members about dangers (such as the fox traps, a flood, or an impending attack)

Procedure

It is the privilege of the Clan Leader to convoke a meeting. However, sometimes other Clan cats do it; for example if they feel that an important information or question must be brought to the Clan (such as Mousefur calling a meeting in Sunset), or if the leader is not available (such as Fireheart calling a meeting in A Dangerous Path).

To begin the meeting, the leader climbs to a high place (such as the Highrock in the ThunderClan Forest Camp) where all cats gathered below can see and hear them well. He or she opens the meeting with the words "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here beneath the Highrock (or Highledge) for a Clan meeting". Though, this type of call has only been verified for ThunderClan, the other Clans call not having been revealed as of yet. Once having the attention of all cats, he or she passes the message or performs the required ceremony.

Clan Meetings have no fixed dates; a meeting can be called at any time, whenever the leader feels the need to do so.'

Tail Flicks

A tail flick can be used in many ways. It can mean, "Follow me", "I heard you", or even, "Shut up, mouse brain!" Here are some different situations:

• A bristle and a sharp flick of your tail usually means, "Get over here now! I'm angry with you!"
• A flick and jerking your head in a certain direction means, "Meet me to the bushes at your left" or "Sneak out of camp with me through the brambles to the right."
• If you call out to someone and their back is to you, they can flick their tail to show that they've heard.
• Sticking your tail straight up in the air and flicking it sharply down means, "Sit!"
• An eye-roll and a flick of the tail means, "Whatever."
• A mrrow of laughter and a flick of a tail means, "That was a good joke."
• Saying, "Oh, fox-dung, I gotta go!" and flicking your tail means, "Sorry! Talk to you later?" or "Yikes! I've gotta go use the dirtpile!"
• Flicking your tail at a she-cat's belly and smiling means, "She's expecting kits!"
• Flicking your tail at someone and making a face means, "What is wrong with him/her?"
• A sharp flick of your tail during battle can mean two things; it can mean, "Attack!" or it can also mean, "Help me!"
• A shrug and a tail flick means, "Oh well."
• Putting a tail over another cat's mouth means "Shut up, mouse-brain!" when the tail is sharp or "Please, quiet" when the cat is talking too much.

Fighting Techniques

• Back kick - Explosive surprise move to catch opponent from behind. Judge opponent's distance from you carefully, then lash out with your back legs, taking all weight on your front paws.
• Belly Rake - A fight-stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws against the soft flesh of an opponent's belly. If you're pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back into control.
• Front paw Blow - Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. Claws sheathed.
• Front paw strike - Frontal attack. Slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent.
• Killing bite - A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent and sometimes considered dishonorable. Used only as a last resort.
• Leap-and-hold - Ideal for a small cat facing a larger opponent. Spring onto opponents back and grip with unsheathed claws. Now you are beyond the range of the opponent's paws and in position to inflict severe body wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. Watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed.
• Partner fighting - Warriors who have trained and fought together will often fall instinctively into a defensive position, each protecting the other's back while fending off an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers.
• Play dead - Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes his grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively. This will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in attacking position.
• Scruff shake - Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponents neck; then shake violently until he or she is too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, who are small enough to throw. A strong throw will stun or kill them.
• Teeth grip - Target your opponent's extremities- the legs, tail, scruff or ears- and sink in your teeth and hold. This move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight.
• Upright Lock - Final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs and bring weight down on opponent. If opponent does the same, wrestle and flip him under you. This makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so it takes great strength and speed.

Ceremonies

Apprentice Ceremony

When a kit turns six moons old, he or she is ready to become an apprentice. Until this time, their name ends with the '-kit' suffix. When a kit becomes an apprentice, their name ends with '-paw', showing the path their paws are on.

The Clan Leader calls a Clan Meeting to appoint a new apprentice and assign a mentor to him/her. The following words are used, by tradition:

Leader: (Kit), you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as (new name, ending with 'paw'). I ask StarClan to watch over you and guide you until you find in your paws the strength and courage of a warrior.

The leader calls up the warrior he/she has chosen as a mentor.

Leader: (Warrior), you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from (former mentor), and you have shown yourself to be fierce and brave. You will be the mentor of (apprentice), and I expect you to pass on all you know to (apprentice).

The mentor touches noses with the apprentice, and the Clan greets the new apprentice by calling out his/her name.

Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony

The Leader calls a Clan Meeting, after the Clan's medicine cat announces that he or she wishes to mentor an apprentice. The following words are used, by tradition:

Medicine Cat: Cats of (Clan), as you know, I will not be around forever. So it's time I took an apprentice. I have chosen a cat who has shown (virtues). Your next medicine cat will be (apprentice).
Leader: (Apprentice), do you accept the post of apprentice to (medicine cat)?
Apprentice: I do.
Medicine Cat: Then at the half-moon, you must travel to the Moonstone/Moonpool to be accepted by StarClan before the other medicine cats.
Leader: The good wishes of all (Clan) will go with you.

The mentor touches noses with the apprentice, and the Clan greets the new apprentice.

At the Moonstone/Moonpool At the Moonstone/Moonpool

At the next half moon, the medicine cat goes with the apprentice to the Clans' sacred place to present him or her to the warrior ancestors, where the apprentice confirms his or her wish to be a medicine cat. The following words are used, by tradition:

Medicine Cat: (Apprentice), is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?
Apprentice: It is.
Medicine Cat: Then come forward.
Medicine Cat: Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. (He/she) has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant (him/her) your wisdom and insight so that (he/she) may understand your ways and heal (his/her) Clan in accordance with your will.

The medicine cat and the apprentice lay down and have a dream from StarClan.

Warrior Ceremony

A warrior ceremony is a ceremony in which an apprentice finally gets their well earned warrior name and becomes a full fledged warrior of their Clan.

An apprenticeship usually lasts six moons or more. Once the mentor is satisfied with the apprentice's progress and skills, he or she recommends them to the leader of the Clan. Then, the apprentice must pass an assessment, when their abilities as a warrior are checked. In cases when the apprentice has just made an important contribution to the Clan, the leader may decide that there is no need for an assessment (i.e. Firepaw after saving the kits, Brackenpaw after fighting courageously in a battle or Thistlepaw after fighting a dog).

If the Clan Leader is satisfied, he or she calls a Clan Meeting and calls the apprentice. The following words are used, by tradition:

Leader: I, (Leader), leader of (Clan), call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/she) has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend (him/her) to you as a warrior in (his/her) turn.

Leader: (Apprentice), do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?

Apprentice: I do.

Leader: Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. (Apprentice), from this moment you will be known as (new name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full warrior of (Clan).

The leader rests his or her muzzle on the apprentice's head, and he or she licks the leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan then greets the new warrior by calling him or her by their new name. The warrior will sit a silent vigil guarding the camp that night, except if that is not possible (such as Squirrelflight's ceremony, when the Clan did not have a camp, and the task of exploring the lake was assigned).

Virtues

• Courage - Brambleclaw, Sandstorm, Cloudtail, Sorreltail, Spiderleg, Squirrelflight, Lionblaze, Briarlight, Poppyfrost, Rockshade and Snookthorn
• Bravery - Fireheart, Graystripe, Berrynose, Dustpelt, Bluefur and Cinderheart

• Enthusiasm – Spiderleg, Berrynose and Tinycloud
• Independence – Cloudtail
• Strength – Fireheart, Graystripe, and Bluefur
• Spirit – Sandstorm and Briarlight
• Honesty – Dustpelt
• Patience – Sorreltail
• Forethought – Brackenfur
• Loyalty – Thornclaw, Brambleclaw, Bouncefire, Whitestorm and Hollyleaf
• Intelligence – Thornclaw, Honeyfern, Tinycloud and Snookthorn
• Initiative - Poppyfrost
• Kindness - Honeyfern
• Energy - Bouncefire
• Thoughtfulness - Hollyleaf
• Wisdom - Whitestorm

Medicine Cat Ceremony

A medicine cat ceremony is a ceremony in which a medicine cat apprentice finally gets their well earned medicine cat name, because their mentor approves of their work.

Apprenticeship for medicine cats usually lasts much longer than those for warriors. The cat must learn about all available herbs and remedies, and the treatment of diseases and injuries.

Once the Clan's medicine cat is satisfied with the apprentice's knowledge, they go to the Clans' sacred place (such as the Moonstone or Moonpool). This is the only ceremony that is not performed by the Leader in the camp. The following words are used, by tradition:

Medicine Cat: I, (name), medicine cat of (Clan), call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. (He/she) has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help (he/she) will serve (his/her) Clan for many moons.

Medicine Cat: (Apprentice), do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?

Apprentice: I do.

Medicine Cat: Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. (Apprentice), from this moment you will be known as (new name). StarClan honors your (virtues), and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of (Clan).

The medicine cat rests his or her muzzle on the apprentice's head, and he or she licks the mentor's shoulder. The other medicine cats greet him or her by their new name.

Name Changing Ceremony

A name changing ceremony is a ceremony that takes place when a Clan Leader decides to give a Clan cat a new name. This is usually done when the cat's old name does not suit him / her anymore, generally because of an injury. For example, when Sparrowpelt lost half of his tail, he was re-named Halftail.

The leader calls a Clan Meeting, and performs the change with the following words: "Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on he/she will be known as (new name), for (description of the reason)".

Deputy Ceremony

A Deputy Ceremony is when a Clan Leader names the Clan's new deputy.

If the Clan's previous deputy died, retired, or was promoted as leader, a new one must be appointed before moonhigh the same day, according to The Warrior Code.

After the leader decided on the new deputy, he or she calls a Clan Meeting and makes the announcement with the following words:

Leader: I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our warrior ancestors (or former deputy name) may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of (Clan) is (warrior's name).

Leadership Ceremony

A leadership ceremony is the ceremony in which when the leader dies or retires, the deputy receives their nine lives and their leader name.

The new leader goes to the Moonstone (or Moonpool) with the Clan's medicine cat. After touching the stone (or drinking from the pool), the new leader cannot move for a short period of time, because their old life is being ripped away so they can receive nine new ones. Upon awaking, cats of StarClan come down from Silverpelt. Nine cats, normally ones who were significant during the new leader's life, give them their nine lives with these words:

Life-Giver: (Touches nose to the top of the new leader's head) With this life I give you (gift). Use it to (use of gift).[2]

When all of the lives have been given, the previous leader says these words:

Previous Leader: I hail you by your new name, _____star. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of (Clan). Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity.[3]

Just as the forest-cats would call a warrior by their new name, the StarClan cats acclaim the new leader.[4] After the ceremony, the new leader is not allowed to tell any cat what happened during the ceremony.

Getting nine lives does not necessarily mean a leader will live longer, but they can survive accidents or injuries that would claim the life of a cat.

Elder Ceremony

An Elder Ceremony is when a Clan cat retires to become an elder due to old age or a weakness, such as blindness.

An aging warrior, queen, or medicine cat may retire as an elder due to own initiative, when they feel they cannot help the Clan efficiently any more (such as Mousefur or Speckletail). They report this to the Clan Leader, who calls a Clan Meeting and addresses the warrior.

Leader: (Warrior), is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?

Warrior: It is.

Leader: Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest.

The Clan will call out the retired warrior's name and then he or she will go to the elder's den.

Usually, an elder ceremony is held only when a cat retires due to old age. If they are forced to retire because of a severe injury (such as Longtail or Stonepelt), there is no ceremony.

The Warrior Code

1. Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan.

2. Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.

3. Elders, Queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders.

4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.

5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.

6. Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

7. A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.

8. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies or retires.

9. After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.

10. A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.

11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

12. No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.

13. The word of the Clan leader is law.

14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.

15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

Exceptions

• Cats on their way to the Moonstone or Moonpool are allowed to cross other Clans' territories to get to their destination - WindClan grounds in the forest and ThunderClan grounds by the lake.
• At the lake, cats may travel on other Clans' grounds as long as they are within two fox tail-lengths of the lake; for instance, to go to a Gathering.
Additional Rules

The following rule is not part of the Warrior Code, but is always followed:

• Medicine cats may not have a mate or kits.

(Thats ok :3)

Lionstar awoke to the sun that beat down on his neck fur from outside his den, which was atop highrock, at the back. He stood and stretched, letting the welcome sun warm his golden fur. He blinked, then looked out of the den entrance.

Sorrelpelt stretched her sore limbs. She felt something tickle. She twisted her neck and bit down hard, feeling a flea crack under the pressure of her teeth. She blinked in satisfaction then closed her eyes peacefully, the sun warming her fur.

Darkhearts ice blue eyes appeared out of no where at the entrance to camp. He stalked in, and the faint outline of a rabbit was visible. He stalked towards the fresh-kill pile and deposited his prey silently.

Stormpaw trotted merrily out of camp, eyes bright. Every muscle in his body was itching to do something. Lionstars probably still asleep. Lazy head. He thought, and glanced up at the leaders den.

Dapplefur took a chaffinch from the fresh-kill pile and set it down, then bit into it. Her green eyes surveyed the camp as she nibbled at the chaffinch. She wasn't very hungry. but knew she had to eat before going on hunting patrol.

Deadfur padded into the elders den, a mouse in his mouth. "This is for you, Sorrelpelt." He said flatly, dropping it at her paws.

Streamtree tried to focus on the herbs lined on the wall in front of her, but something was distracting her. She didn't know what, though.
