Snakestrike smiled, about to reply, befefore seeing Brightkit barrel towards them. "Seems like your kits are enough for you to handle," he purred, smiling as Brightkit glanced up at him with squinted eyes. "Are you my daddy? Who is my daddy?" she pouted, and Snakestrike looked struck, glancing at Bubbleclaw nervously.

Bubbleclaw cleared her throat, not knowing what to say. She glanced at Snakestrike, not knowing if he wanted to be a father to her kits or not. "Well, Brightkit," she started, procrastinating, "Its, er, a bit complicated, you see..." she mewed, flicking Snakestrike in the back hard with her tail, to get him to talk. How would she know if he wanted to father them? She sighed, sort of wishing he did though.

Snakestrike chuckled nervously at Brightkit, glancing at Bubbleclaw as she flicked him. What do I do? Stay quiet? Or assume the answer is yes? Or no? "Well, Brightkit, I am not your father by birth, but I am like your father in a way," he mewed gently, his voice echoing with hesitation, unsure of Bubbleclaw's choice. Brightkit nodded slowly, then glanced at her mother. "Then who is my real father?" she squeeked, her curiosity perking up.

Bubbleclaw looked at Snakestrike, wondering what he meant by, "but I am like your father in a way" she wondered if he would actually try to act like a father to them. That would be amazing if he did, she thought happily. Turning to her kit, she mewed softly, "You look just like him Brightkit, you know, though he was a bit bigger," she joked, cuffing her tiny kit on the ear gently, "His name was R-Rowanheart." she mewed, having to swallow at his name, as it still made her heart ache, after all this time.

Brightkit cocked her head to the side, springing up to her paws. She stood on her hind legs, her front paws on Bubbleclaw's shoulders. "Who is Rowanheart? There isn't a Rowanheart in the clan!" she hesitated, then frowned. "Is he dead?"

Bubbleclaw looked over her daughter. Her tabby pelt, spotted with ginger, just like his was. "Yes, he is in Starclan." she mewed, licking Brightkits forehead. "But I know he loves you all, Floodpaw, Lotuskit, and Rosekit too," she purred, glancing at Snakestrike for some help.

Snakestrike nodded gently at Bubbleclaw's words, watching the little fluffball with amusemant and sorrow. "He was a great cat- and the son of a noble warrior, Herringflight. Splashfoot is your kin- the elder. Sandcloud, Fallingrain, and Ivyheart are all your kin as well," he murmured gently, flicking his tail at each cat in turn. I hope Bubbleclaw is okay with me acting fatherly....

Bubbleclaw smiled at what Snakestrike said. None of her kits really knew their family...even Rippleheart and Squirrelflight hadnt met them yet! She sighed, "Isnt that great, Brightkit?" she purred softly, her silver eyes still sad, "You are related to such great cats!" She looked at Snakestrike, wondering who he was related to. She hadnt really known him before Rowanheart died, and didnt even know who his parents were.

Brightkit smiled at Bubbleclaw, her eyes sparkling. "I am going to be just as great as Rowanheart some day!" she yowled, stampeding off towards the nursery, her tail high in the air. "Brightheart!" she yowled before fully disappearing into the stone cave.

Snakestrike caught the glance from Bubbleclaw, sensing what she was thinking. "My parents are Snakestar of Frostclan and Mothwing- my siblings are Duckfeather and Skygaze, both in Starclan now," he mewed gently.

Bubbleclaw blinked after her kit, moved. She turned to Snakestrike in surprise though, extremely confused. "Your father is the leader of Frostclan! How did I not know this!" she laughed to herself, shaking her head. Mothwing had an affair? Why am I so out of this loop!? She thought, looking at Snakestrike. Named for his Frostclan father. Half clan. Does that make him different? She wondered, flicking her tail. Wasnt he the same cat she was in love with? Yes. Why had he never told her though, that he was half clan...it was a big deal!
