Leopardpaw closed her eyes for a very, very long time. She wished she could reach up to EonClan. She wished she could reach up and touch Cloudsong one more time. She sighed, and opened her eyes, reality flooding back into her mind. She buried her fur into Cloudsong's and shared tongues with her best friend one last time.
Shadowpaw had followed the group of SunClan cats all the way back to camp. He breathed in the familiar scents, letting his old memories wash over him. Him and Leopardpaw, playing outside of the nursery. Cloudsong singing for them. Him sneaking out and Cloudsong finding him. He choked back soft sobs and turned to Cloudsong's limp body. He closed his eyes and cried for a long while. More memories washed over him...
Cloudsong's sweet voice filling his mind....
And she danced through the wood like a gypsy cat should,
And she laughed in the face of the fire!
Under blue velvet skies with the moon in her eyes
Paw held high, Tamborine held higher!
A-a dangerous game
To know her name
She was wild, she was free
She was calling to me
Sister Gypsy we're one and the same!
And she danced through the trees for those who believed
She was one with the Earth and Sky
In a moment she's gone, but her memory lives on
Like a shooting star through the night
His horrible dream, that turned into a reality...
Shadowkit awoke from his dream and whirled around to face Cloudsong "Cloudsong it was bad! You were a star in the sky, and you shown so bright, but then you fell, and I searched all through the forest but I couldn't find you!" Shadowkit wondered where all these nightmares were coming from, but he hoped that they didn't mean anything bad. He looked at Diamondstar, noticing that she too was awake. He didn't want to bother his leader with such statements, but he thought Cloudsong should know, and Shadowkit was very afraid.
And finally, that terrible prophecy that came true that very day...
My star shall fall on the night of Snow
My protector is one of Shadows,
But is under the spell.
The spell that is life.
And with those memories, Shadowpaw knew he would never have another memory with his beloved Cloudsong ever again...
