She turned to the impatient apprentice and smiled. "You'll get your name tonight," she purred. "I wanted to wait until things at camp had calmed down a bit before you got your name." She turned back to Lilystar. "As I was saying, are you feeling okay? It can be a big emotional stressor to become a leader."

He grinned at Littlepaw. "See? You're gonna get your name soon! Then we can finally—" He cut himself off, feeling self conscious, since he had never officially told Littlepaw he liked him.

The tom stretched and gazed at the sunrise, waiting for the Forest Runners to wake up to assign patrols.

Lilystar raised her head proudly. " I feel mighty fine. Starclan has blessed me with the nine lives of a true leader. "


Littlepaw flicked his ears, he wondered what Silverice was going to say. " Then we can finally what? " his gazed burned into his.

He stumbled around his words. "Uh, be full warriors together! You know, lead patrols, have apprentices...have mates." He trailed off, sheepishly avoiding Littlepaw's gaze.

She purred. "Fantastic. Let me or one of the other medicine cats know if that changes, okay?"

She sat by the pool of water inside the camp, gazing at the plants that bowed to the push and pull of the currants. She remembered fondly fishing here with Duskstripe when they had first told each other "I love you;" now it seemed but a distant memory. She was still mourning: who wouldn't be sad about their mate dying? Yet now she was able to freely go about her day-to-day activities without feeling as if she could break down at any moment.

She stretched and yawned. She tapped her mate on the shoulder, "Look at those two!" She pointed with her paw towards Silentphoenix and Thrushwink. She leaned into Burningleaf and swisher her tail gently. "Welp!" She did a big stretch and yawned. "They are cute but I got work to do, love." She yawned again and called for her clan to wake.

He smiled at her and joined her call, waiting for cats to gather.

Lilywhisker smiled at Willowsplash. " Youve done an excellent job, i'm sorry you couldnt save Wolfstar, but you did well. "

Littlepaw wished he could join him in patrols. " I'm a medicine cat though, I cant join the patrols." As for mates, I have one in mind but they wouldnt like me back anyways " he muttered under his breath

His posture slumped upon hearing Littlepaw talk about a mate that he might already want. "Oh," he said, his words barely detectable. "Well then I guess you probably don't want me here, huh?" He kicked a twig that was on the ground.

"Thank you, Lilystar. You have no idea how much that means to me." She dipped her head and went out of the leader's den, approaching Littlepaw, who seemed to be in a tough conversation with Silverice. She shook her head and approached. "Do you want to help me gather some herbs, Littlepaw? We're running low on a few things." They weren't actually, but she figured she could let the tom vent out some of his frustrations.

Littlepaw's mind screeched in alarm. No! Thats not what you think, I love you! he yowled in his head. Willowsplash invited him to gather herbs. " Thats all i'm good for " he muttered so nobody could hear. " Sure. " he went out of camp with Willowsplash

She looked at Littlepaw as she lead him out of the camp. "So, what's on your mind?" she asked him.

Littlepaw hissed. " Silverice is. I cant get him out of my head. Its annoying! " he clawed up a bunch of grass in frustration. " I should just be a normal cat, but NO I have to like him. " he growled to himself in anger. " But I cant stop thinking about him . . " he calmed himself down. " He probably doesnt like me back, but still . . " he decided to change the subject. " So what are you naming me? "

He did a small flip under the clear water and looked at her from there. He realized he needed to come up or air and broke the surface giggling in between coughs. "I am the most graceful, thank you very much." He did a little prideful bow and he presented the stunned a small Atlantic Cod and dragged it out of the water. "Impressed?" He said puffing out his chest with exaggerated pride. The fish was now no longer stunned and it flopped and hit him in the face with its tail but he snatched it quickly before it could swim away. "Wanna share?" He mumbled through the fish's scales.
