Ruby danced nervously from the man's touch, but she willingly followed him. She had no idea what he was saying, but his kind tone comforted her a little. She was completely trusting of kids and some women, but she trusted no men, not after the accident. She snorted once more, her ears back.

Ruby warily took the mint from the man's hand. She had never tasted something like this, but it was delightful! She pricked her ears forward a little more, nosing around to see if he had more.
