If, any clan has been blessed by the stars above the title goes to Cloudclan. They've always respected
the stars above, giving them thanks every evening. Their leader is seen as their connection to the stars,
hence the suffix 'star'. The clan respects their ancestors so much, they don't have dens, they believe
that fiercely that they sleep under the stars every night. The camp is exposed on all sides and only
due to rain or snow are cats allowed to find shelter in the nearby shrubs. No matter rain or shine,
peace has always been with the cats of Cloudclan. That is...until it disappeared. The ground began
to shake occasionally, strange scents were brought on the air among other strange happenings. And
finally came the strangest of all. The stars disappeared. They became dimmer and dimmer, as
nights passed. And then on the evening of one of their cherished celebrations of the stars, for ten
more moons of peace when they found no stars in the sky. They waited and waited, but none appeared.
The clan erupted into chaos. Upon the commotion the clan discovered their leader missing - and
upon finding their said leader they found the leader of Cloudclan dying. Their leader muttered
a few words - "the clan is fading, like the stars above. follow the dove and peace shall be found
once more", and with that their leader died. Obviously, these words do nothing to reassure the clan.
But they do know this - their camp obviously isn't safe, let alone the clan. Without the stars above,
the clan is questioning if Starclan is still on their side. Cloudclan is comepletely lost and are wondering
what to do. And if this is a bad omen from Starclan themselves.

THE LAND AND MORE OF CLOUDCLAN

current territory
cloudclan is currently settled in a vast plain-like area, similar to that of a large field or meadow. as stated before, cloudclan barely has any places to take shelter - a few shrubs and such here and there, and the occasional abandoned den from some animal.

new territory
cloudclan's new territory is a good distance away from their previous one. located east of their territory, the cats will have to make quite a journey to get there. their new territory is over a mountain, consisting of a vast forest with a large meadow in the center, with plenty of cover for the clan and still has a wonderful view of the stars above.

the journey
the clan will have to go on a journey shortly after the rp begins, consisting of going through their current territory which won't prove to be easy - they'll also have to journey through a forest and up the mountain which finally leads to their new territory.

the plot
despite their previous leader's words, the words were not exactly a prophecy. instead, the clan will not be guided by a cat named dove or with the features similar to that of a dove. instead, a few select felines will have visions and dreams of a dove which will guide them to their new home. since their leader didn't specify which particular felines these are, there is quite a lot of suspicion among the rest.

prey and threats
prey among the clan is mostly; small birds, rodents, lizards, and the occasional rabbit or squirrel. the threats include mostly birds of prey, snakes and later on for the plot many other threats that will prove to be worse than those - including twolegs.

clan life
as stated before, the clan is very respectful of the stars above - a cat who doesn't believe in starclan - besides outsiders, of course - is basically unheard of in cloudclan. however, there are always those with less faith than others and one who doesn't exactly believe in their ancestors can be possible for one reason or another. the clan also has no dens, thus they sleep outside and together in one large mass. the leader typically is in the middle, then the deputy, then the medicine cats, then the elders, then the queens, apprentices and finally warriors.

The land was quiet, it always had been. At least, until early that very morning. The ground had begun to shake, causing a few tremors in the ground. Such a thing had never happened before, and thus woke the young tom. Missingpaw woke up with such a start he nearly tumbled into one of his fellow clanmates. He couldn't see his mentor, but he assumed he was probably now if he wasn't already. He sat up in his among the other felines, his ears twitching. What in Starclan's name was that? And what was that- oh. The tom wrinkled his nose at the smell that had taken over the territory as of late, carried on the wind toward the camp. Sometimes it was so strong that it made him feel sick, but thankfully today the wind seemed to be having mercy on him. Regardless, he wondered why such a thing had begun to happen. Then again, many strange things were happening as of late ever since the stars above had disappeared. It had been quite some time since the tom had seen the stars, but since he was blind he couldn't quite believe it when the others said the stars were gone. He couldn't see for himself, but believed them anyway since the camp had erupted into chaos. And then their leader had been found dead. With the stars gone did that mean he hadn't gone to Starclan? He shook his head as he slowly rose to his paws, feeling around for a few moments before turning his head to and fro, as if he was looking around. He didn't speak since it was still quite early and no doubt some of his clan-mates, wouldn't be very pleased to be woken up so early. The tom picked his way through the mass of cats, though the pile of sleeping felines wasn't as big as it usually was since the morning patrols had already been sent out. He wondered if they had run into any trouble on the territory. Hopefully, not. The tom settled down a short distance away from his clanmates, his tail flicking from side to side as he sat in the morning sun's rays and took in the scents in sounds of the morning. Suddenly, another tremor raced through the ground, causing it to shake more fiercely this time. Once more, he sprang to his paws, but it only continued to get worse. The sound was terrifying, but Missingpaw could make no sense of it and merely unsheathed his claws and dug them into the ground, as if it would do anything to help him at the moment.

Heatherfrost was just journeying back to the camp alongside the rest of the dawn patrol, parting her jaws to let out a yawn. Swiping her tongue over her muzzle, she quickly recoiled at the smell the wind brought over the patrol. She didn't understand it, but a strange scent had taken over the territory and she couldn't place her paw on what it could be. The land had never smelled of something so...obnoxious. Her tail flicked back and forth as she walked alongside her apprentice, her ears pricked as the group made their way back to the camp. Suddenly, a slight tremor made the ground shake underpaw. The gray and white molly stopped for a moment, waiting for the ground to stop. The rumble quieted, only to grow louded in the next moment. And louder. Something wasn't right. This time the ground didn't quiet down. "Stay close to the group, Pyrepaw", she muttered to her apprentice as she continued to wait for the tremors to calm down, but this time it didn't seem like they'd be doing so.

Above his head, a vast expanse of stars glittered and winked. Vulturehunt's eyes were wide with awe, twin golden moons reflecting the light of his ancestors. Incoherent voices whispered in his ear, as soft as the breeze that rippled through the grasses around him, sending chills through his pelt. He had never seen the stars so close before, he felt as if he could reach out and pull them from the sky to hold them close like a captured firefly. Was StarClan here? His mother?

"Vulturehunt."

The tom whipped around, ears perked. Green eyes, a black pelt, a graceful walk. But this she-cat was not Quietnight, and she had no stars glimmering in her fur like dewdrops. "Amira," he purred, rubbing his cheek against hers, breathing in her comforting scent of treesap and wind. She nuzzled him back and sat beside him, winding his tail with hers. Too happy to speak, Vulturehunt leaned into her but pulled away to study her face as she tensed, her fur bristling.

"Look!" she hissed, her muzzle pointed to the sky. Vulturehunt turned his attention skyward and let out a gasp, his stomach dropping with fear: one by one the stars were winking out, but the voices he had heard earlier were growing louder and more threatening. The tom flattened his ears, trying to block out the sound of his angry ancestors. Growls split the air, and the ground began to tremble with their fury.

"Father!"

Vulturehunt's eyes flew open. The ground was still trembling beneath him. Was StarClan coming to punish him? Surely they could spare the Clan!? The tom's wide head swung around with fear, the voices from his dream echoing in his ears. Pain shot up his spine as someone stamped heavily on his tail. He hissed and flung his gaze towards the perpetrator, only to meet the anxious look of his daughter, Everpaw. "You need to calm down," she hissed as the tremors grew quiet, "It was just a nightmare...."

"What about the shaking?"

"That was real."

Everpaw's ruffled pelt was smoothing down as she looked around, assessing the camp. Vulturehunt knew she wouldn't remain afraid for long. He could see her mind getting to work on figuring out what had happened. She always looked so much like her mother when she wore that expression. The tom sighed and sat up, but he'd hardly begun to stand when another tremor began rocking the earth. Everpaw flopped unceremoniously to the ground, while the rest of the clan clutched the earth with wide eyes. This time the shaking did not subside, and Vulturehunt was grateful that they lived out in the open, where there wasn't any danger of trees or rocks falling down on them. When would this end?

Dawn patrols was perhaps one of Moonbliss' favorite tasks; she'd always been an early riser, and she loved nothing more than sweeping the boundaries of her clan, listening to the birds wake while the sun shone its soft light across the grasses. The air was always cool and fresh, the last traces of the night especially now that the stars had vanished.

Now, with the patrol coming to an end, Moonbliss flicked her tail in unease. She kept glancing over her shoulder, feeling an icy chill run up through her paws and through her body. Every now and then she stop to shake out her fur. Had she stepped on an ant hill? Maybe she would visit the medicine cats later and explain that she was feeling odd. They'll probably ask if I'm expecting kits, she thought with a faint snort of amusement. That, of course, was impossible, seeing as she wasn't even attracted to toms nor had any mate. Maybe it was awful stench doing something to her body.

Gritting her teeth, she focused on getting back to camp but suddenly ever hair on her pelt stood on end, as if lightning were about to strike. Moonbliss heard a rumble like thunder and pictured herself being stuck by some mighty white bolt. Scrunching her eyes shut, she braced for the worst and was surprised when the earth trembled beneath her paws. Opening her blue eyes, she glanced at Heatherfrost in confusion, then to Pyrepaw to make sure he was alright.

"Could it be twolegs?" she said. They were the only thing Moonbliss knew of that caused the earth to tremble with their horrible monsters; it might explain the stench, too. The trembling grew more aggressive, making the huntress hiss with frustration.

Everpaw woke with a start, the fur prickling on her spine; something wasn't right. Instinctively, the young molly looked to the stars for comfort, only to be reminded that they weren't there. The dawn patrol had just left, and the sun's arrival was announced by a streak of red on the horizon. The apprentice sighed and edged closer to her father. Apprentices usually slept on the outer rim of the Clan's sleeping formation, but recently her presence was accepted in the center once it was clear that having her nearby reduced the number of nightmares her father had, which meant better sleep for everyone. Everpaw certainly enjoyed getting to be near her father's warmth, but she wanted to swipe at her clanmates' smug faces every time they teased her for being her father's little pet -- others looked down on her father for needing his daughter nearby in order to be able to sleep.

'What next?' someone had said to her just a few days ago, 'Is he going to need you to hold his paw when he's headed off into battle?'

Everpaw shoved the memory from her mind and closed her eyes, trying to go back to sleep. She was unsuccessful: she couldn't get comfortable, and the foul stench in the air bombarded her nose. Vulturehunt, her father, was purring in his sleep. The young black molly smiled, pleased that he could rest peacefully. An odd humming noise reached her ears and she pawed at them, irritated. With each passing moment the sound grew louder until with was a deep growl -- worse, the earth began to shake.

Beside her, Vulturehunt's fur stood on end and fear-scent rolled off of him in waves. He whimpered and began to writhe in his nest. Everpaw scooted over to him and began shaking him. "Father!" she exclaimed, feeling relieved when his golden eyes flew open. Her solace was shortlived as she noted the fear in his eyes: he might have been awake, but she had a feeling he didn't realize reality had meddled in his dreams. He swung his had about, his pelt so fluffed out that he looked twice his normal size. Knowing what she had to do, Everpaw slammed a paw on his tail and immediately saw him snap back to reality.

His gaze met hers, steeped in terror. "You need to calm down," she hissed. The Clan didn't need their deputy freaking out like a queen who had misplaced one of her kits. "It was just a nightmare...."

"What about the shaking?"

"That was real." Now that it had stopped, Everpaw's fur began to smooth. What was that? Twolegs? Or maybe it was one of those quakes that an elder had told her about, long ago when she had just been made an apprentice. Standing up, she peered around at her clanmates, noting that Missingpaw was awake and weaving among the other cats. Hopefully the dawn patrol was all right. Everpaw was just about to find her mentor when the ground lurched beneath her paws. She let out a yowl as she was thrown off her feet and back to the ground. This tremor was much worse, and it didn't seem like it would be stopping any time soon.

│While the rest of the clan slept in their scattered piles across the camp's clearing, Bitterfang preferred to
│sleep on his own at the very edge. It allowed the old tom to rise and settle as much as his nerve-addled b
│rain could demand without disturbing the sleep of the clan or, much worse in his opinion, attract the conc
│ern of any of his clan members. There was nothing wrong with him even though he was up and about at od
│d hours, but some of the clan didn't really understand that.
│His pale green eyes swept across the camp, searching the piles of cats for his apprentice. As he spotted th
│e young tom in his own corner of the camp, the earth beneath them began to shake. He hunched over, try
│ing to lower his center of balance before his bones and muscles were overwhelmed.

│For once, he slept peacefully. No screams invaded his mind, no memories of his sister's screams played rep
│eatedly in his dreams, no voices shrieked into his subconscious, even the voice of his father stayed silent.
│He couldn't recall the last time he actually slept this well.
│That is, of course, until the earth rattled and shook, startling the tabby tom awake with a jump and a hiss.
│The rest of his clanmates were awakened by the tremors as well, all clinging to the earth like it was their o
│nly hope.

│Before she was even fully awake, Stoneheart's claws were already sunk deep into the dirt to ground herself
│from the tremors. "What in Starclan's name is going on?" The irony of her exclamation tugged at the back of
│her head, what with Starclan mysteriously vanishing. But she didn't have time to appreciate, or even really
│acknowledge it. She gritted her teeth as her eyes darted around, searching for what might be causing this,
│or perhaps what would be the best plan of action. As far as she could tell, there was none. Instead, she tur
│ned her attention towards Vulturehunt, hoping the deputy had a plan.

│True to form, Amberpaw's response to being rattled awake was to hiss and swear. She snapped at the air an
│d flailed her claws around in panic, shocked and panicked at the unnatural feeling of the earth shaking ben
│eath her paws. Perhaps, she thought as her hackles rose, she was a little overdramatic, but when has that
│ever stopped her?
