" T h a n k you," Jaguarstar said, dipping his head. He headed towards Whitetail and Spottedstorm to tell them of the change, when he spotted Anacondafang near the camp entrance, where the guards usually sat. Piranhatail's tail was disappearing into the warriors' den, and a quick glance told him that Mambastride was nowhere to be found, though his apprentice was up. When Anacondafang approached him, he nodded. "Just about to leave hunting now," he said. "But Anacondafang - where's Mambastride? I noticed you dismissed Pythontail and Piranhatail, as you should, they've been up all night for StarClan's sake...but where in the world is their replacement? Weaselpaw's even up and waiting. It's very sloppy of him to have overslept, if he has...the camp needs guarded, the other two guards need sleep, and his apprentice is waiting!" The leader's tail swished back and forth with irritation as he watched Weaselpaw and Silverpaw speak. When Weaselpaw returned his gaze, he flicked his tail, beckoning them to come towards him.

C a n o p y p a w ducked her head in embarrassment. If Rockrose and Peacockpaw had mentioned hunting, she had forgotten in excitement. "Well, good," she said, finally. "I do love to hunt, after all! I hope we catch something big today. I feel like every patrol I've gone on lately, has been to fish! Sunleaf and I did catch a huge fish the other evening, though. We'd gone hunting and had no luck, a capybara had even out-run us. We decided to fish, and there it was: a huge one! I swear it could have swallowed me whole. It took us, Tigerlily, Cacoapaw, and Crescentclaw to haul it out onto the shore and kill it! It didn't have any teeth, though, so it wasn't that scary. The camp guards all ate it, and not even all four of them could eat the whole thing." The apprentice rambled on, though she fell silent as Tapirfoot spoke to Lochpaw. She felt like a scolded kit - she didn't need an older apprentice to guide her, she knew what she was doing!

" W e l l come on, then!" Toucanpaw purred, bouncing to his paws. He waved his tail for her to follow. "Leopardheart is right over there." He led the other apprentice towards his mentor. Still, his earlier irritation hadn't been forgotten. The tom's whiskers twitched unhappily as he approached her, though he decided against telling her how bothered he had been.
"Leopardheart," he mewed as the came up to her, "May Macawpaw and I train together today?"

T a p i r f o o t twitched an ear, a bit disgruntled by the tom's seeming hostility. Wonder what got under his pelt, he thought, though he remained silent as he padded along. He dropped behind momentarily to tap Lochpaw's flank. "You're nearly a warrior," he told her, "so make sure to act like it! I know you will, but make sure to keep your eyes and ears open for danger or prey at all times, and keep these younger two in line!" With that, he padded back ahead, so that he was in stride beside Rockrose and Sunleaf.
