Bat watched Vevlet calmly, his ears slanted forwards once again as he listened to her heartbeat. He thought back to not that long ago, what had that she-wolf wanted? The one that had tried pestering him whilst he was in the previous cave with Velvet and his older half brother. He couldn't remember, which both confused and irritated him.

Holly cracked a stick, and stood silently, she made such a loud noise when she wasn't ready yet she gulped slowly "Um, Bat?" she whispered "M-May I tell you something?" she asked.

Bat turned his head, his ice blue eyes narrowed when he saw the female he'd just been thinking about. He frowned and stood up, standing protectively infront of Velvet. He kept trying to remember what she'd wanted before, but for the life of him he couldn't remember.

Holly looked at the ground, putting her tail in between her legs.

Velvet coughed slowly, feeling herself lift away.

"Well then?" Bat asked, his eyes still narrowed. He turned his head to the side when Velvet coughed, his eyes flashing with worry, then he looked back towards Holly, a frown on his face.

Holly looked up "I-I'm sorry, F-For what I've done to you, Its-Its just I like you- and..." she stopped at his frown, she felt she had said enough.

Velvet closed her eyes for the last time, at least Bat would never get harmed by Athena again.

Bat frowned, his ears flicking in an almost uncomfortable way at her words. His eyes flickered back to Velvet, his eyes widening when he saw she wasn't breathing. At first he thought it was some sort of a sick joke, but when he bent his head down and pressed his ear against her flank..There was no heart beat... With a loud, almost snarling sound Bat raised his head and let out a long, loud sorrowfull howl.

Holly didn't know what was going on, but he seemed sad, it made her feel as if she wanted to cry. She then gave words that the wolf behind him was dead, she raised her head and closed her eyes and let out her bets howl she had ever done, the wolf had earned it.

Bat continued to howl, a single tear flowed from his eye and dropped onto the dusty ground. He didn't know why, but he felt as if his soul had been torn apart. His eye flickered to look at Holly as she too, howled for Velvet. He couldn't help but feel gratefull to her, after all, she didn't look like she knew Velvet that well, yet, she was still howling for her.
