"Because it's a question for you, not my mentor," Morningpaw replied calmly, a lazy smile spreading across his face when the older tom groaned. His tone was light as he went on, "Come on, Quailleap, don't be difficult. I just wanna talk, that's all."
"Thank you." Magpieflight dipped his head in thanks before burying his catch and continuing onward. "So, I was wondering...What do you think? Of what I said to Blackwing, I mean." He blinked curiously at the warrior. "Agree with me? Disagree? Think I was too harsh? I'm just curious."
Lilacfeather nodded. "Yes, that's true. But I know you two will still always be close--just in a different way. I'm sure on some level he'll always look up to you as his once-mentor, but he'll stand as your equal, maybe even see you as a friend. It's just a continuation of the relationship you already have with him."
Softfrost stuck right by Shrikewater's side. He scented the air, glancing around the forest for any signs of prey, but detected nothing thus far. He began to wonder if joining Locustsight's patrol was really the best idea--cats tended to hunt better in smaller parties, didn't they? Still, he didn't really want to suggest that they split up, since they had just joined the patrol after all. He cast a side glance at Shrikewater, wondering if she was thinking the same thing or had detected any prey yet.

As Ferretclaw padded silently after Weaselshadow, she couldn't help but notice how...quiet, almost apathetic, he seemed. "Everything okay today?" she asked him. She hoped the brief delay of the patrol due to the confusion hadn't upset him.
Minkface shrugged. "I guess." The truth was she wasn't terribly eager to go out, but at this point she had nothing better to do. "I wonder what they're talking about. Should we get closer and try to listen?"
Graytiger kept all his senses alert as he stalked through the woods. He made sure to keep an eye on Ripplewhisper, checking back on him every now and then to make sure the tom was keeping up. He didn't want to fuss over him, but he did want to make sure his denmate was okay.
Darksun's jaws were parted for any scents of prey. She kept pace with Dovestream while Graytiger walked with Ripplewhisper, only stopping once when she detected the faint trace of mouse, but continuing when she was unable to pinpoint the scent. "My sense of smell hasn't been so great lately," she murmured to Dovestream.
