Bearpaw was purring so hard so she could hardly speak. She nodded her agreement to Splashpaw emphatically. Then smiled brightly at both Jackdogpaw and Darkpaw. "I can't wait til we're warriors!" She meowed jumping up and down. "What do you think our names will be?"

Elmshade purred and cheered when Southstar announced Stagleap as a warrior, and again as Blizzardclaw announced Bearpaw. When Lostnight spoke, she turned to him and shrugged. "I guess I just talk!" She said, softly so that she wasn't being distracting to the meeting. "Though that's gotten me into a lot of trouble before." She had most definitely been set on tick duty for days as an apprentice for nosing into things and talking about things she wasn't supposed to. "But don't worry about what others think, just be yourself! Because you're pretty great." She purred, smiling at Lostnight. When Blizzardclaw and Southstar finished, she sighed. "I guess it's time to go then, huh." She said. Elmshade rather enjoyed the moment of peace at the gathering, where tensions were (usually) low and everyone could just be friendly.

Foxcloud purred and nodded her head contently. “Agreed, I love serving my clan so much I don’t know how I will deal with having kits when we decide to,” she told her friend. She knew she would love them dearly but she knew it was going to be hard giving up on warrior duties for basically seven moons. She glanced to where Dappleleaf was looking at and smirked. “You have your eye on Weaselstripe huh?”
When the two cats leaped off the tree, she frowned as she wasn’t ready to leave her friend. She knew it was a short matter of time fore Southstar would signal for the cats to join him to head back. Though she would be content with that too, they had flirted some before the gathering started.

Elmshade purred to Goldenrose. "Hopefully! Have a good night, and good hunting!" She liked Goldenrose a lot. If they had grown up in the same clan, they probably would have been very close. Elmshade hoped there weren't any arguments between the two clans during the coming leaf-bare.

Robinwind was deep into his slumber when he blinked his eyes open to see the familiar starry forest of StarClan. He looked around, eyes wide. It was quiet here today, likely because many of their warrior ancestors would be watching over the gathering. He hoped that Streamstar was watching over his kits and mate. Birds hopped idly around. "Robinwind," The calming voice of his mentor said, and he turned, excited to see her. "You never were great at understanding visions, were you?" She purred with amusement. He ducked his head, embarrassed. He knew that the vision of the jackdaws couldn't have been a good one, but he hadn't been able to understand exactly what it meant. "When darkness comes on jackdaws wings, the day's golden light will fall." She mewed, and Robinwind shivered, the same feeling of dread as when he had seen the flock of birds fly at him returning. His mentor smiled at him, and then her image disappeared as more and more birds landed in the starry clearing, until he couldn't see the stars or moon at all, and StarClan faded from his dream completely.

Streamspot had gone hunting early that morning near the two leg place to make sure a certain scent wasn't in the air. She hadn't caught a whiff of Honey since their last run in on the day of Stagleap's warrior ceremony. She hoped whatever Southstar had said to her was enough to keep the she-cat within the fence-line of her kitty-pet home. She had caught quite a few creatures scuffling about being restless in their hiding places for the leaf-bare. A squirrel, a chipmunk and a mouse. The squirrel and chipmunk had been a good hunt, it took the skills of a trained warrior to catch those bits of prey. But the mouse was a bit of an oddity. It had been out in the open moving slowly. Streamspot had killed it easily and it hardly even seemed to frighten when she pounced on it. Nevertheless she brought it back to camp. Warriors couldn't be passing up fresh-kill in leaf-bare.

She set her prey down as the beginning of the fresh-kill pile that morning. She picked up the mouse, something seemed so odd about the kill, and carried it to sheltered spot in the camp. She dug in and didn't notice any odd taste. She finished her meal and then stretched out enjoying the feeling of the rising sun on her long fur and the quietness of the forest before her clanmates awoke. Suddenly her stomach twisted nauseously. Streamspot sat up and made a bee-line for the dirt-place. She vomited bright green and the rest of her mouse. She went back to her nest her stomach cramping all the way and a sudden wave of exhaustion overtook her. She made it back into her nest hoping no cat would need her for the day. She was not sure she would be much help at all. She curled up in her nest trying to sleep through her painful belly-ache.

Bearpaw had grown in the two moons. She had lost her kitten fluff and her fur was now that of a sleek warrior. Her muscles were filling out and becoming strong and noticeable beneath her pelt. Her demeanor had become more mature and she did a lot less hopping around. Although her energy stayed. She seemed to have an everlasting endurance, making her always ready for one more patrol and one more round of battle training. She was becoming an efficient hunter and was friendly with almost every cat in the clan.

This morning she had risen early to do a quick solo hunt. Though that wasn't necessarily allowed for apprentices she hadn't been known to follow the rules. She had hardly left camp before she smelled it. Fox! She ducked low and began creeping towards the scent. It wasn't long before she could see the mangy creature. The large red animal was quickly moving in the direction of camp. The kits! She imagined them snuggled up safely in the nursery and she knew she couldn't allow this monster anywhere near them. She exploded from her hiding spot charging at the monster head on. A few moons ago Darkpaw had said that EagleClan apprentices are sent to chase off foxes all the time. If they could do it, so could she. She narrowed her green eyes and leapt at the creature smashing into its shoulder trying to knock it off its paws. The fox took a step sideways and that was all it needed to steady itself. Before Bearpaw had even recovered it picked her off her paws and shook her vigorously side to side. Bearpaw let out a yowl of terror as she felt her flesh being torn. She managed to twist her body and claw at its eyes. The fox let out a snarl and flung her from its mouth. She rolled taking only a heartbeat to gather herself before springing to her paws and running for her life. She left a trail of blood behind her and it was only moments before she heard the fox charging after her.

She was headed towards the open moor that was now pockmarked with openings from the tunnels collapsing. The fox was too fast and she hoped it would be less sure-footed than she on the uneven ground. She streaked across moving in a serpentine fashion hoping to confuse the fox. It worked at first. The fox had to jump across the fallen tunnels and work on planting its heavier body on firm ground, while Bearpaw already knew the best trail to follow. Eventually the quick fox began following her exact path and closed the distance between them. Bearpaw had glanced back and saw what it was doing. Panic welled up in her chest. If it grabbed onto her again she would be done for. Her adrenaline was giving her great speed and helping her avoid her pain but even that would not be enough to keep her going much longer. Up ahead she was approaching the little bit of forest that crossed over the stream that marked OakClan's border with EagleClan.

She dashed through the undergrowth of the forest not bothering to avoid the brambles and thorny branches of the dormant bushes. They scratched her skin stinging but she hardly noticed it in her panic. The fox was right on her heels and she could her it breathing loudly behind her. She saw the stream. The water was moving fast as they'd had rain recently. There was a branch just ahead that would hold her weight but not the fox's if she could make it to there she could get away. She took a flying leap from the bank just as the fox tried to snap its jaws around her. She hit the front of the branch with her chest. Her rear end falling into the freezing water. She lost her breath with the hit and had barely got to gulped one breath in before she looked at the bank to see the fox jumping towards her trying to land on the branch. She released the branch falling back into the water and a second later the fox landed right where she had been smashing the branch in two and falling into the water near her.

Bearpaw struggled back to the surface getting a gulp of air before a wave of water washed over her head again. Panicking she breathed in water only adding to the absolute terror she felt. She fought her way to the surface once more splashing weakly trying to swim and keep her head above water. Thank StarClan I've had been taught how to swim! Even still the water was moving fast and the fox was swept downstream past her. The water around Bearpaw was turned orange from her own spilt blood and it seemed like her legs would hardly cooperate to move. She was hit from behind by a piece of the branch and plunged underwater once more. She swam back up grabbing the branch with her front claws and clung on. She shook her head now throbbing trying to shake away the shadows that threatened to cover her vision and sink her into unconsciousness. The branch bobbed with the rushing water closer to the EagleClan's land. She struck out only having to swim a tail length before she could touch land. She dragged herself onto the bank through the mud and collapsed with only her head and chest out of the water. She gave in to the dizzying blackness crowding her vision. The last thought she had as she faded was, Will I see StarClan when I wake?

D a p p l e l e a f felt her ears growing hot. "He's very handsome, and a brave warrior...and a wonderful friend," she admitted to Foxcloud as she stood to her paws. Blizzardclaw was beginning to gather his warriors. "Oh, mouse-tails...looks like it's time to go. I can't wait to see you again next moon and hear more about Deertail!" She touched her muzzle to Foxcloud's cheek affectionately, and then bounded away towards OakClan's cats. She stopped about a tail-length from Weaselstripe, who was trying to wrangle the apprentices. She had to stifle a mrrow of laughter as they moved around him, almost ignoring him.

J a c k d a w p a w shot Weaselstripe a questioning look - the tom didn't usually involve himself with them, since he'd become a warrior. He shrugged, dipping his head to Darkpaw. "Good to meet you," he said, before padding towards Ivypaw without a goodbye. She seemed busy with Daydream. With a disappointed sigh, the tom turned around, spotting Tigerblaze. Blizzardclaw was speaking to the tom, but Jackdawpaw padded up anyway, keeping a respectful distance.

"Send our regards to Beestar." With a wave of his tail, Swiftbadger excused himself from the interaction. He padded towards where Southstar was - not close enough to speak with the tom, but close enough to hear if he should begin gathering them to leave.

" O h , " Quiverpaw mewed in disappointment as Weaselstripe began moving around the apprentices, trying to gather them. She had been enjoying making friends with the OakClan cats - thanks to Splashpaw, they didn't seem even a bit scary to her now. Well, perhaps the big ginger tom did...and Blizzardclaw, the deputy...and she was sure Beestar would be terrifying...but her nerves were calm at the moment. "Well, I don't really train with anyone but Mistflower," she admitted. "We do most of our training on our own, so I'm not...very close to the other apprentices. Still, I'm sure I'll miss how familiar it is. Moving to the warriors' den will be...difficult." As she spoke, she stood to her paws, her long, wiry tail flicking around nervously behind her as she angled her ears towards Southstar, unsure of what she should be waiting for.

D e e r t a i l spotted Reedwhisker trotted off on his own, looking dejected. What's under his fur? Moving into a sitting position, he watched the warrior exit camp. Moving to his paws, the tom trotted after him. "Hey, Reedwhisker!" he finally called out, catching up with the other tom at the stream he'd come to: the border between the Clans. "What are you doing all the way out here, huh?" he asked gently, sitting down near him and wrapping his tail around his paws. "Not thinking of running off into OakClan territory, are you?"
