Cinderfeather sat outside the warriors den with Smokepaw, her tail wrapped around the small tom. She sighed and nuzzled her brother, who in response nudged her back. After the deaths of their parents, they’ve gotten closer than before, Cinderfeather often found watching her brother. Most cats always saw her around her little sibling, there to protect him.

Her eyes glowed into the darkness, as she looked after the tom Shatteredmoon getting out of the camp almost immediately all alone. Sometimes she felt like if the tom was lonely after breaking up with his mate, especially when they seemed to be so close with each other. Her eyes looked toward the handsome Wolfrunner there talking with the group of other cats.

He walked out of the warrior's den giving a few licks to his shoulder fur, before looking around for the cats, wondering if he could go with the patrols or out by himself. His eyes located the one of the apprentice's Emberpaw, which was the same age as him, but still an apprentice, he had some feelings toward the ginger tom, but thought they could be too wrong to show.

The silver lynx point hadn't been up for all that long, she supposed, having been awake since dusk. She had already tried to do a bit of hunting before her apprentice woke up, only carrying back a measly lizard. She'd been mostly pacing a hole in the ground, waiting for Leopardpaw to wake as she headed to the leader as well.

The tom begrudgingly rose to his paws, practically dragging himself out of his warm nest, barely being noticed if it wasn't for his grumbles. As grumpy as he was, he headed to the leader wordlessly, giving a rude look to basically everyone and anyone in his way.

indentation Shatteredmoon had already padded out into the night by the time Scorchstar began calling for cats to gather around. He hesitated before deciding to pretend he'd not heard; he was more in the mood to hunt alone anyway. The risk of getting put on patrol with Minnowlight was too high and he didn't want to deal with that. He was too aware of her and the way the moonlight shone on her pelt and gleamed in her eye. It was distracting, most especially because she was no longer his love.

indentation After several moons of trying to start a family with Minnowlight, it had eventually come to their attention that Shatteredmoon was unlikely to ever be able to father kits. His mother's brother had also failed to start a family over many moons and he'd resigned himself to the same fate before coming to a decision. He'd broken things off with Minnowlight barely half a moon before in hopes that she'd fall in love with another tom and get to have the family he couldn't give. Things were just awkward and painful now.

indentation So he picked up his pace, hurrying away from the camp entrance and out into the dark, ready to spend the whole night away, hunting again. He'd walk and hunt until his paw pads wore out if it meant keeping his Clan fed through the oncoming leaf-bare.

indentation As Scorchstar's voice rang out in camp, calling for them to surround her for patrol assignments, Windchaser hesitated. His vivid amber eyes still studied the camp entrance thoughtfully before he sighed. He wouldn't be able to try out his plan right now anyway, so he might as well make himself useful in the meantime.

indentation The undersized, scrawny tom padded over to sit near the edge of the group of cats gathering around their leader, mind idly straying back to the camp entrance. It seemed like it would be so easy to accomplish, but no one had done it yet. Maybe there was a reason that he didn't know about. Maybe I'll ask Scorchstar after the meeting. With that, he turned back to face their leader expectantly.

indentation As Emberpaw approached Scorchstar, Lavenderhaze glanced in his direction and laughed and shame scorched his coat. He dropped his gaze away from the warrior, again feeling that acute sense of disappointment. The she-cat was six moons younger than he was and was a warrior and yet, here he was at eighteen moons, still an apprentice. She must think him pathetic, certainly deserving of her laughter.

indentation Scorchstar didn't outright greet him, which only further cemented his certainty that she wasn't wanting to deal with him today either. Resigned hope flared that maybe he could just go hunt by himself after all, so he shuffled out of the way so more important cats could receive their assignments. He kept his amber eyes on his paws, ever the shy and nervous cat as others crowded in.

The two padded towards where Scorchstar stood. Cinderfeather snorted, her brother looking up at her. Something must be troubling her.The tom looked back at Scorchstar, waiting to be assigned for a patrol.

the lean tabby warrior followed the leader to the middle of the camp where she announced the creation of patrols to head out. He sat down in the middle of the crowd and raised a paw ever so slightly, meowing a quick and vocal i'm up for a patrol always. awaiting the decision of the leader to allow him to join or not was slightly bothersome, mostly because he fully had the ability to run out of that camp by his lonesome and hunt. but the night was dangerous and the predators were plenty. there was no telling if he would even find any prey to catch, so would it even be worth it? no matter, i'm sure the leader would allow him to tag along on a patrol. if not, he would take the opportunity to train with lightpaw. perhaps he could even ask another warrior to come along with their apprentice for a team training.

the leopard-spotted apprentice purred at lightpaw's comment about her own beauty, silently agreeing with her. lightpaw was a pretty feline, she couldn't deny that. and mosquitopaw wasn't ugly either, even though he did look like one of those big mooing creatures he once heard about from an elder. she listened to the bickering between the two cats trailing behind her as she bounded out of the cave the cats slept in. she noticed the cats were all huddling around the leader, who was clearly about to make an announcement or had already made one. I guess that's what getting up late gets me...missing out on important things. the replies of the clan told her it was simply getting patrols together, something she did have much of an opinion on. she could go, she could stay. either way she would find some way to get into mischief.

her ears perked as she heard her name come out of lightpaw's mouth, and of course her response was sarcastic with a hint of love. me? tease you? never. it's 100% truth all of the time. that's who I am, truthful and honorable! of course that was a lie in itself, but her comical tone of voice said it all. her amber eyes landed on minnowlight, her mentor, and almost felt shame. ohhhhhhh I should have woken up earlier... between her walking and keeping her eyes on minnowlight and her thoughts on her mistake, she ran smack into emperpaw and went toppling over him. with an oof and a thud, leopardpaw looked up to see the older apprentice that she ran into. feeling slight embarassment, she hoped lightpaw and moquitopaw didn't witness her accident. sorry emberpaw, wasn't looking where I was going."
