Minnowleap’s gaze wandered over to where Crystalrain was speaking with her apprentice wondering if she too were ready to go, but just in time to catch the she-cat’s gaze. Her own eyes narrowed before turning her head, not taking well to her clanmate’s attitude. It was too bad if the molly didn’t want to go on the patrol, if that was what her issue was. It needed to be done and Leopardstar had requested it, if she had a problem she could take it up with her. She smiled friendly over at Rustpelt before giving a nod to head out once the warrior had rejoined them, giving a flick of her tail tip to have them follow. She was glad that she was able to ask Rustpelt to join them, she enjoyed his company. She was unsure of the exact reason why, but she didn’t press the matter too much.

Otterfoot padded back into camp, a mouse dangling limp from his jaws. He had risen early, and his paws itched to leave camp. So, naturally, he went hunting. He dropped the mouse onto the freshkill pile before scanning the camp with an emotionless gaze. He wondered where his apprentice had gotten himself off to, thinking that maybe they could do some battle training. After not spotting the younger cat right away, he settled down towards the center of camp. He licked his paw and swiped it over his ear before laying down, his tail curving up against his side.

Toadpaw gasped quietly as realization hit him that the warrior’s body would fall on him. With quick thinking, the young tom scrambled out from under him, just before he was pinned. He leapt quickly onto Tangleclaw since he had tipped over onto him in an attempt to pin him down.

Tangleclaw was pleasantly surprised to see Toadpaw react so quickly and efficiently. The dark tabby lied on the grass for a moment, his tail swaying from side-to-side, as he was pinned under Toadpaw's hold. I could overthrow him just now... The adrenaline of the small tussle brought the thought to his head, but Tangleclaw pushed it away just as he gently pawed at Toadpaw to get off of him. The whole point of this exercise was so the apprentice could practice pinning his opponents and he had been successful.

"You did well." Tangleclaw commented as he got up, shaking the bits of grass out of his fur. "I'd like to see more that when you spar with other apprentices." He said, casting a glance at the orange tabby.

"But now," He looked back ahead of him, pacing a few steps forward, "I'd like to practice the tail-yank with you more. It can be of great value to you, if used correctly. But, as you are aware, you tend to often miss your target. In the midst of battle, you cannot afford to miss any openings." The dark tabby looked back at him before continuing on with the lesson: Tangleclaw would move around the battle area and Toadpaw would have to be able to catch his tail and get him to lose his balance.

"Begin." Tangleclaw nodded to the apprentice, starting the next exercise. He circled around Toadpaw carefully, keeping a lookout for his next move, his tail flicking quickly from side-to-side.

"You think I could beat Minkpaw? He always acts like he's tougher than me," he mumbles to his mentor before they got back to them. "I'm fine Brindleclaw, I can eat after do a little hunting after training even." He wanted to make it known he could do it all; fight and hunt. He was still working on his tracking skills though, it was something that could come in handy with the loners coming in and out of the territories.

"Sounds good to me," he nods some as Wildtail was fine with them leaving right away. He nudged Minkpaw once before eagerly trying to lead them all out of camp.

Minnowleap walked through the camp entrance, perking her ears up as soon as she stepped foot outside of camp. She glanced over her shoulder, checking to see if everyone was following as she turned to follow the Meadowclan border. She knew that if they saw another cat, Leopardstar said strictly not to pursue. But, that would be difficult. She shook the possibility of it from her head, continuing to move quietly through the territory. As the she-cat moved, she stayed aware of Rustpelt’s location compared to her. Why? She couldn’t even answer that herself.

Toadpaw scrambled off of his mentor as told before he listened to further instructions. He gave a nod followed by a small flick of his ear at the compliment. It was true that he needed to get better with sparring with the other apprentices, he always somehow managed to become distracted. And, you can’t afford to be distracted during a battle.

Nerves seized the young tom’s chest as he mentioned the next task. He wasn’t great with the tail tanking move, he felt like he moved too slow. He gave one nod before his muscles tensed, his eyes glued to Tangleclaw’s form, trying to judge his move and what he was going to do. He stayed still for a long while before he leapt at his mentor, his hand paws digging into the earth beneath him. He gathered his tail in his teeth, carefully not to grab too hard since he didn’t want to hurt him. He used his body weight again, twisting to move sharply around the other side of Tangleclaw, hoping the quick movement would make him a tad unsteady.

Mistflower did indeed feel better after a nice rested nap and had noticed Pigeontuft heading towards her as she came out of the den. She purred softly as the older warrior had volunteered to lead the patrol, nodding her head. "Of course, that'd be extremely helpful Pigeontuft. Would you be up to possibly taking Weaselpaw on your patrol? He seemed bummed when I didn't want to place him on patrol with myself, Brindleclaw and Minkpaw. As for the others you may choose who you'd like to take." She wasn't harsh always but sometimes she could be ice cold, usually it would be from being in a bad mood or interrupting constantly what she was trying to do.
