Finchfoot noticed a bit of tension between Thornstep and Nettlefern. Perhaps it wasn't even tension, just a bit of awkwardness or sense of uncomfortability. "It must be because Nettlefern would have liked to lead the patrol..." Ravenfur thought to herself, gazing off into the distance. She continued along the patrol in silence, listening to the sounds of nature.

Tangleclaw lost his footing a bit but quickly regained it, able to bat Toadpaw over the muzzle with sheathed claws. "You'll have to keep yourself out of your enemy's reach as you yank their tail. Pigeontuft dipped his head solemnly, his ocean eyes searching for the apprentice.
"Of course. Thank you, Mistflower." he broke off from the molly without another word
and approached Weaselpaw first barely nodding his head towards Wildtail and Brindleclaw,
"I was instructed to take you out on a border patrol, Weaselpaw. We need two other cats,
and then we can leave." he mewed gruffly, flicking his ears towards the warrior's den. He
didn't see any cats sitting around camp, so he huffed quietly and came to the conclusion it would
be just the two of them.

Bramblepaw groomed her pelt lazily, quite bored of the inactivity around camp.
She had spotted her mentor, but she was feeling a little tired of training lately and wanted
to do something else for a change. all the other apprentices seemed to be out with their own
mentors and she sighed out of frustration. Bramblepaw finished grooming her mottled tabby fur
and returned to her shrew, chewing as slowly as possible

Mistflower purred once and nodded a bit, contently beginning to groom herself. "That's true, if memory serves me correctly that's how it went for you isn't it?" She smiled to herself before thinking back to her own assessment. "All of our apprentices are all almost warriors too... Amberpaw, they're a bit too young. And we don't even have any in the nursery," she thought aloud as she was looking around the camp. She wouldn't mind having another litter of kits but she knew how hard it would be to handle that and be a deputy. But it wasn't just her choice, she would have to talk to Thunderfall as well.

She flicked her ear as she shoved the thoughts away, clearing her mind quickly as she caught the lingering scent of Meadowclan. The cat that left the trail was long gone back over the border. Otterfoot lifted his gaze as movement caught his eye, it landing on his apprentice. He could see that the young molly was eating and chose not to bother her for the moment. He stretched his paws out in front of him, stretching the stiff limbs before laying his chin down atop them.

Toadpaw shook his head and backed up as his mentor batted at him. He let out a silent sigh, annoyance growing hot in the young tom’s chest. He nodded as confirmation at Tangleclaw’s words before he stiffened, getting ready to strike again.

He pushed off with his hind legs, paws digging in the earth as he ran forward. He dodged any attempt Tangleclaw made to stop him as he went for his tail. He grabbed his tail gently in his jaws, making sure to remain out of the older cat’s paw reach. He quickly ran to the tom’s one side, using the quick movement and his weight once again to his advantage to try and knock his balance off.

Finchfoot padded alongside Thornstep, not a big fan of the silence that had overtaken the patrol. Hopefully the next one I go on will be at least a bit more fun... She thought to herself, occasionally glancing down at the ground in front of her.

Rustpelt felt even more pressure to strike up conversation with Minnowleap, seeing as Crystalrain and Fadepaw seemed to purposefully falling behind. He gave a quick glance over the surrounding area and took in a whiff of air, scenting Meadowclaw. His tail flicked with unease. "Why would Meadowclan's scent be here? Could one of their cats been hunting on our territory?" He looked to the deputy. He didn't like this discovery one bit...

Tangleclaw prepared himself for Toadpaw's second attempt. The older tom was surprised to see Toadpaw avoid all of his attempts to hinder the apprentice from reaching his target, but just as pleased at the same time. The dark feline felt his fur perk up as Toadpaw grabbed his tail before he suddenly lost his footing and stumbled to his side. Tangleclaw peered up at Toadpaw with his curious green eyes, proud of him.

"Nice work," He commented, stretching out his paws on the ground. "You've made great progress in today's training. I look forward to seeing you put your skills to use soon." Tangleclaw finally rose to his paws. "That's enough training for today. Find something to bring back to camp and then you're free for the day."
