Jetpaw glanced at her and a shadow crossed over his expression before he mewed "They don't now, but it hurts to remember what brought them," and he turned his head to the side as though he had scented something, when really he didn't want Pepperpaw to see the pain in his eyes.

Pepperpaw nodded, "I understand, I'm not going to badger you." she whispered, turning the other way too. She narrowed her eyes as a hare crossed her vision. "You want it?" she asked, hunting usually got her mind clear, and maybe it would help him.

Pepperpaw nodded, "'Kay." she said and scurried after it, her form close to the ground. She leaped and landed with an arc on it's back. She bit it swiftly and carried it over.She buried it and glanced over at him.

"Nice catch," he mewed as he sniffed it. Then his ears twicthed and he darted behind himself and with claws outstretched he grabbed onto a rather large kangroo rat and killed it swiftly.

Pepperpaw smiled, "You too." she said, her eyes narrowing.

Jetpaw let out a small purr and then glanced down at the sand. he placed his paw down in front of him and then lifted it up again looking at the pawprint he made. "Much better," he thought. It was something he and Bandit would do anyway. Mark the places they've been to with pawprints and then come back to them if they needed to. But Bandit was dead now...

Pepperpaw cocked her head, "What are you doing?" she asked, considering the print.

Jetpaw stared at his pawprint before answering. "It's what me and my brother used to do when we were younger," he mewed his voice soft.

Pepperpaw nodded. "Brother..." she whispered, "I have no siblings." she sighed, "What's it like?" she asked, "Well... actually I did...one was still-born, and the other..." she winced, remembering the leaf-bare. The leaf-bare they went on an adventure... a fatal one for her sister Mintkit.
