She followed the patrol closely, making sure to keep with the sounds of their paw steps. The forest felt cool, the tree branches blocking out much of the heat from the sun. She’d always liked it here, it was quiet without the sounds of the waves and it made listening easier. As they slowed Opalblossom felt a twinge in her stomach, she could smell herbs on the breeze from the spot along the border where she and Needlepaw used to meet up. “Hmm?” She meowed, not sure if Thornbreeze’s repose was rhetorical or not. The young warrior opened her mouth, deciding to answer anyways, “I think they are.” She meowed, moving around some fallen leaves and twigs with her paw, “I mean, the borders been so quiet lately. We used to see summit clan cats every time we patrolled and now it’s hardly ever!”

She watched as her clan mates started to gather. Just as Rabbitstar was about to start she heard someone walking up besides her and noticed Hawthorn sitting to her right. She stiffened slightly when he spoke and she looked around, unsure if he was talking to her or someone else. She was tempted to just answer but it would be weird if he was asking someone else. Seconds ticked by and nobody spoke up so Hernclaw looked around again before taking a deep breath turning to Hawthorn, “Its a clan meeting.” She whispered, “I’m not sure what it’s about.” Just then Rabbitstar began to speak and Hernclaw turned her attention back to the leader. A frown spread across her muzzle as Rabbitstar skipped addressing the disappearance to give some warriors their ceremony’s. They’ve been waiting almost a moon for their leader to reassure the clan and her she’s stalling? Heronclaw forced herself to take a deep breath and looked down to see her claws digging into the ground. She shook her head and sheathed her claws, telling herself that she was over thinking it, of course Rabbitstar would want to start with the positives.

Sagepaw glared against a speck of light that entered the apprentice den, his claws scraping against loose sand as he stretched and stood to shake out his pelt. A small piece of moss clung to his sandy brown fur that he didn't bother to flick away. He made the short scramble up the tunnel and out into the clearing, blinking in the too-bright sun that fell over Shoreclan's camp. It didn't take long for him to realize that most everyone was out on patrols. A pang of regret stabbed at him when he realized his mentor was one of them, but he quickly pushed the feeling aside. If I wanted to go out on a patrol I should have been up. he plucked a small herring from the pitiful fresh-kill pile and only managed to take a nibble, his stomach churning. He left the fish for some other cat and found a small sunny patch to lay down in, the light warming his coat and his tired body relaxing. The wind was steadily growing colder, but since it was fairly nice today the lithe tom wanted to enjoy it while he could. Sagepaw felt fatigued, and a rumbling deep in his chest made him cough lightly. His stomach dropped and he wanted to wretch up the prey, panic briefly flitting across his eyes before he sat up with a 'huff'. 'I can't be getting a cough! Not with Spottedlily missing-!' fear gripped at his heart and he felt dizzy, the sudden weight of being alone and frightened crashing down on him. He drug himself back into his nest and flopped down, his side heaving. He was restless for a long time before finally succumbing to a dreamless sleep.

Bearfluff followed Stagpaw back into camp, and, despite all the bad happening throughout the clans he couldn't help but grin. I've done it. We've done it. he was incredibly proud of his apprentice, and perhaps just as excited. His scruff fluffed up and he found himself unable to sit down, his tail lashing and paws kneading. "That's alright, now, go on!" he murmured back, taking his place at the front of the small crowd beneath the leader's rock, giving Stagpaw one last reassuring look before his eyes settled on Birdpaw. Today would be a day of celebration, and the tomcat knew that not even missing cats could put a damper on these apprentice's moods. He felt a small pang of sadness for Birdpaw, knowing their mentor was one of the missing cats, and noted to himself to take him aside give the cat a big congratulations. Snapping back to his leader, he watched as Birdpaw stepped forward, looking both nervous and excited.

He waited patiently for Crabfur to get his words out, although he was stammering. "That's understandable. It's getting colder, and leaf-bare is next moon," Ripplestar noted. At the mention of Spottedlily, he offered, "I could possibly help you with your exercises. I'm no medicine cat, but I've picked up the basics since I became a leader." Although he had no insight into the cats disappearing, let alone Spottedlily disappearing, it seemed that it was beneficial to learn a small number of medicinal skills. "I haven't heard anything else," Ripplestar sighed heavily and began thinking back to the news of Nettlepaw.

Noticing that she seemed tense until she started kneading the sand, he also wasn't sure if he should bring it up. "I'm doing pretty good. I haven't done much recently, but I've been allowed to go on a few patrols in the past moon. Since I don't have any kits," Tinyseal rambled on. He inched his paws further into the sand, comforting against his paw pads. Perhaps it was just a Shoreclan cat thing to be close to the ocean and the sandy shores.

It was starting to get rather cold, as it was leaf-fall and soon it would be much colder. Leaf-bare was right around the corner, something Palejaw dreaded this time around. So many cats had gone missing, and with tensions high anything could set off some major trouble. The tom came to an abrupt stop as the scent of squirrel wafted into his nose. A half-hearted smile made it's way to his face, looking a little crooked as always. Nose to the ground he began to follow the mouth-watering scent.

A small half-smile lit the she-cat's face, relaxing marginally. "That sounds relaxing. I've always found patrols easy to relax on..." Servalnose paused then snorted," Unless we run into Summitclanner's, then it's just stressful." The slender feline let out a huff of laughter, though it was short-lived. "Though I think having some kits would be nice. You know, to have family around." She absently paused her kneading when she thought of it, the mewls of newborn kits, the excited laughter of new apprentices, and the love shared between mates. It all felt like a fantasy to her. Servalnose's lip twitched, but sometimes dreams come true.

Smile widening to a grin, a soft excited purr rumbled in his chest. The small grey tom attempted to stay calm, or at least stay still but it didn't last for long as soon after he began to tap his front toes on the ground in a random pattern. His tail was thankfully still, though he did end up giving a whole body wiggle. Tinypaw felt his ears flush with heat afterward, attempting to refocus on Rabbitstar and push away his discomfort of staying still. It worked for the most part, though he continued to tap away.

"Alright!" The molly meowed cheerfully as she buried the bird, trying not to crush its
wings with earth before prancing after the scent of prey. Crouching, she recognized t
he scent. Mice. A whole lot of them. She began to turn back, then thought, well, they
could be gone by the time i've gotten Fernsnap, and she told me to hunt alone......
She leapt forward, crushing the mouse nest as she bit the little mouse's necks. Some s
crambled away, but she ended up with atleast six mice. Proudly, she picked them up a
nd hopped back to Fernsnap.

The young warrior's ears perked as Rabbitstar called for a gathering, drawing her attention away from what she had been previously doing. Her multicolored eyes scanned the camp before resting on Silvertail, a smile spreading on her maw as she bounded over to the tom. She nudged the tom with her head in a greeting manner before sitting down next to him, prepared to listen to Rabbitstar. "Hello, Silvertail." She whispered as she glanced over to the cat she looked up to and respected.

As she sat there waiting for the ceremony to continue she saw movement out of the corner of her eye. Once again she tore her attention from the leader back to her apprentice. When she had first taken him under her wing his constant fidgeting had annoyed her and she had constantly gotten onto him for it. After many moons, however, she had grown used to the smaller cat's movements. She huffed and spoke to the apprentice in a hushed tone. "Can you tell me how many cats are in camp using your sense of smell alone?" She questioned trying to distract his mind to allow him to stop fidgeting.

Crabfur felt a bit awkward with the leader offering to help him.He was sure the tom had better things to do than help him, but he didn't know how to refuse the offer without making it awkward. "T-Thank you. I would appreciate it." He meowed, glancing down again. In an attempt to continue the conversation he gave an awkward chuckle, "Atleast it helps me tell if a storm is coming." He was referring to his leg, as it always seemed to begin aching before the weather turned sour and the sky fell out. It was a bit painful when it happened but it was useful. He frowned slightly when Ripplestar had no news on the missing cats but he understood and dropped the subject. He understood that most of the cats were missing family or friends and the leader was no exception. He wished he could have offered some support or comfort but he didn't quite know how. "I- I'm sure we will find them." He mumbled, glancing at the leader.

"I know your leg is accurate, but I sincerely hope there won't be a storm tonight... especially at the gathering," he sighed. The leader glanced up at the sky and noticed that is was overcast, everything gray. Ripplestar pulled his eyes away from the clouds and back to Crabfur while he spoke. He couldn't help but let his smile fade away at his words, and he only gave a curt nod. "Yes, I'm sure," he echoed.

The caregiver gave a polite laugh about Servalnose's comment on Summitclan cats and shook his head. "I've never actually taken care of any kits, but I'd love to. I always wanted a family of some kind," Tinyseal mused. He glanced out at the ocean as he thought about it -- how he used to have parents and a sibling, then eventually having a mate and being pregnant with kits. But those dreams were dashed. Tinyseal inhaled heavily and tried to brush those thoughts aside.
