the morning's fog rolled lazily by the large black-and-white tom perched upon the fallen and rotted pine tree propped up against the camp's walls. oneeye scanned the camp slowly with a flick on his tail as he noted the empty clearing. where was his deputy, vulturefang? he scoffed and gave his shoulder a quick lick as his mind wandered. patrols were needed to be sent out soon, the cats that hung around in the forest were trouble and needed to be chased off. he couldn't risk any scrawny flea-bitten rogues trying to trespass on his territory. getting to his paws, oneeye half-scrambled down the tree's trunk and began to pace in the camp's clearing; growing more and more irritated at the thought of his deputy and warriors sleeping peacefully while trouble could be stalking throughout nettleclan's territory.

thistlepaw had been awake for awhile, possibly even before oneeye had awoken. she had taken to absentmindedly clawing her bedding into smaller pieces as her mind drifted to a blank part in her mind. shaking her head to clear the fog drifting around behind her eyes, thistlepaw glanced over at brindlepaw's familiar tabby pelt curled up in her nest. admittedly, she wasn't that close to the other apprentice. but thistlepaw wasn't really close to anyone. fluffing out her fur, thistlepaw tried to ignore the chills that slipped into the den as she waited till she heard some of her clanmates chatter throughout the camp.

Panic.

The peppering sound of rain brought on the onslaught of panic, and the scent of petrichor was what rocked Valerie so that she was awake. Stirring beside her sister, Jade, Valerie felt the rain shaking herself to its core, just as it started to get heavier and begin to bring the two cats' only shelter to the beginning of a soggy mess.

"No, no, no!" the molly exclaimed, rising in the box and shaking her sister. "Wake up! Wake up!" She scrambled outside of the box into the rain, watching as the box began to collapse under the rain's power. The box was nothing complex, but it had served as the sister's shelter for the past several nights and it was the something Valerie begun to cling to night and day. It had a flap that allowed it to close, and was sheltered next to a dumpster so the humans wouldn't find it too out of place. Valerie's short furred body quivered in the rain, her ears flattening against her head as to not let any water get inside.

"Come on!" she hissed, frustrated. She flicked her tail for Jade to follow her as she crouched and quickly made way to the bottom of the blue dumpster, settling underneath it. The scent of human waste and spoiled food tinged her nostrils, causing the fur on her nose to wrinkle up. How could this be? The two hadn't found a stable living space for months now, and while Valerie was completely aware that the box was temporary, she didn't expect it to have it's life struck so early on. Valerie sneezed as a bead of water trickled down her forehead to her nose, her eyes tracking the legs of humans as they grumbled about the rain in front of the dumpster alley. Their source of food from the downtown area was either spoiled or greasy, the many american food shoppes littered around town giving way to the human's unhealthy life styles and providing food for the animals that rested in the city. While Valerie was appreciative that she and her sister were receiving food, she wasn't too fond of the fatty taste and her stomach wasn't either. Despite their diet being human food, Valerie was still as thin as a chicken bone, her dainty body giving way to anything that could harm her. Her agility was a gift, however, letting her get out of sticky situations.

Valerie moved towards her sister as she shook, sharing body heat under the heavy weather that seemed to only smog the city alone, something that Valerie found odd. She could see tall trees in the distance, only covered in cloudy skies and without rain. That was when an idea struck her.

"Jade, I believe that the best thing we can do now is head towards that forest area. There's a farm field around there I think." she paused, drawing in a breath. "I'm not too sure though.. whatever you think is best."

Creamflower is eating a fish from the fresh-kill pile, savoring the delicious taste. She scans the clearing, seeing whose up and about this morning. She is eager to see what Oneeye will do for NettleClan ever since he became the new leader, curious as to what the Clan is going to become.

indentationthe cool breezes that wafted through the camp made their way to dovesong's nest on the outer part of the warrior's den and seemed to pass right through her fur. she liked to sleep in and did so every chance she had gotten, even if the punishment of cleaning the camp or going on a hunting patrol followed, but when the weak rays of sun peaked through, she woke up and couldn't fall back asleep. dovesong let out a huff and, after a few moments, decided to leave the comfort of her mossy nest to exit the warrior's den. at a glance, not too many others were awake, and a small feeling of contentedness came over the warrior; she enjoyed any moment of quiet she could get- between the snoring of her clanmates (more particularly, her brother) and the constant talk between clanmates, it was hard to have a true moment in her own thoughts.

indentationstormclaw, with little courtesy for other cats' space, woke up with a stretch and a powerful yawn. as soon as his eyes had opened, he let out a loud sigh and dramatically hoisted himself to his paws. not bothering to pick any moss that might be strewn throughout his pelt, he grabbed an averaged size piece of prey out of the pile and didn't bother looking to see what he had picked before plopping down right next to creamflower. "hey, good morning!" his voice was as boisterous as ever, and the tom spent no time chowing down. "didn't think you'd be up so early. you feeling okay?" although he never stopped eating as he talked, his voice was filled with noticeable empathy and slight concern for the queen.
