She barely waited for her apprentice to finish speaking before she growled, voice just slightly raised, "You're no help to the Pack if you're dead. Also -" she suddenly gave a proud raise of her head, "- SkyPack is plenty strong. We're simply outnumbered. That is no reason to prance around the borders trying to get yourself killed, again. The fact that I need to have this conversation with you, again, is ridiculous, Lupinpaw. I seriously don't understand how any part of what you just said justifies the fact that you did something I explicitly told you, on multiple occasions, not to do - again." Despite her frustration, something in her softened some at the sight of her apprentice's averted gaze, clearly nervous and guilty. Nightfire cleared her throat and said, "However, in the spirit of keeping progress consistent and constant, you're forgiven. Do not let this happen again, unless you really, really want to be grounded." Standing, she gestured with the tossing of her regal head for her apprentice to follow as she started towards the section of camp she knew Blizzardstar was guarding.

She walked behind the older male warrior "actually I was thinking to go to the meadow" she said to him "so I am coming apart away with you I guess" she said flicking her ears lightly. She didn't really like to hunt with others, because it made her nervous when someone was near to see her hunting, which was not perfect.

Quickleap looked back. "Alright, see you!" and he trotted out, sniffing the air for bird dung. Bird dung that wasn't in the water usually meant a nest. Which meant chicks, a weak mother, and eggs. His nose twitching, and his ears bent forward, Quickleap headed for the lake, hoping for the best.

xxxxxxNo signs of danger were present as Blizzardstar took one final vigilant glance at the expanse of forest before her. The timeless whisper of the breeze gliding across the canopy of leaves sounded delightfully calming - yet another reassurance of the lack of any hostile animals anywhere near Skypack's territory. The she-dog turned around and started making her way back to camp.
xxxxxxIt would have been a calm walk back, the alusky thought, if it wasn't for the indistinct lecture that was getting closer and closer within earshot as she walked on. There was no question about the owner of the voice - Blizzardstar knew well enough how much Nightfire respected discipline. And by the likes of it, the youngster on the receiving end was taking the brunt of it all.
xxxxxxForcing her eyes open and standing taller, Blizzardstar entered camp just to come face-to-face with the pack's Beta and her young apprentice, Lupinpaw. "At least he's safe." was the thought that ran through her mind first, relieving her of the worries she had for him.
xxxxxx"Nightfire," the Alpha began, managing to keep on standing tall, "I see there's no need for a search party, is there?" And with that her focus shifted towards young Lupinpaw, oh so small before her. Thank Starpack that was her and no large predator. "I am certain that you're very much aware of the dangers that lurk beyond Skypack's borders. Our numbers are quite low already." she said in a firm yet cool tone, subtly reminding the young dog of who was in charge and what she could do in regards to his discipline. "What prompted you out of camp, young apprentice?"
xxxxxxBlizzardstar was never one to assert her dominance just to shove her status in her packmates' muzzles and she'd made it clear to them moons ago already. Now she was making it clear that Lupinpaw, as a member of Skypack in hard times, must grow responsible integrate himself as a vital member of its community. Losing him, and so fast at that, must simply not be an option. And if the alusky had to show her strict side in order for him to realise that responsibility of his, then so be it.

Quickleap

Quickleap trotted doggedly on, his paws quickly gliding over the rough terrain, occasionally leaping over fallen trees or roots. At long last, he smelled it: the smell of ducks. He slowed his pace, and, when he saw a taller, sturdier tree, leaped onto it's lower branch, before scanning the horizon. It was gorgeous. The rays of the sun glinting off the water's surface, the ducks, and even a few geese, gracefully gliding through the glassy surface of the lake. The wind whispered it's song through the air, and Quickleap felt it ruffle his fur. It was the smell of freedom, or perhaps... the feeling of freedom, which was something he has missed so much, perhaps what he missed the most about their old camp. Huh, is this how Windpack feels? Perhaps someday I will get to see their territory and I will see if they have wind that never stops blowing. Quickleap could've sat there all day, in the peace of the lake, but he knew he couldn't; there was prey waiting for him. Quickleap leaped onto another, higher branch, then, with some difficulty, the one above it. He was now a good ten feet in the air. Quickleap then, proving his name, quickly leaped from his oak tree to the one across, then the one across from that one, until he was hovering directly over the lake's surface.

She walked closer to the meadow preparing to see, hear or even smell some prey, but so far she didn't smell anything 'that's odd, this part is usually the very lively place, but now there is nothing here?' she thought herself walking around the fields carefully so she could not scare any preys away if there was some.

Quickleap drew in a breath, as his last landing hadn't been as particularly graceful, and it had swung the branch; but the birds seemed to be paying him no mind. They just continued their swimming, and waddling about. Quickleap scanned the ground below him, and deduced that the closest (and most easiest bird to catch) bird was a couple yards away from the bottom of his tree-trunk. However, this seemed to be a particularly clever bird, as it had conveniently positioned itself underneath a rather large willow bush. Oh, wonderful. We're becoming less and less in numbers, and prey are getting smarter and smarter. He knew it was stupid, thinking that way, but he almost couldn't help-- aha! His eyes lit up as a sudden idea struck him.

She gave a cool nod of greeting to Blizzardstar as she approached with Lupinpaw. Her haunches tucked under her body as she waited for her apprentice's scolding to complete, her face unforgivingly expressionless in case he tried to look to her for comfort. Watching sad pups wasn't nearly her favorite pastime, but he really needed this. His recklessness transcended more than just him in these desperate times and, clearly, Nightfire herself hadn't been getting that message across strongly enough, despite her constant discipline and insistence. Once she was certain Blizzardstar was finished speaking, she noted aloud, "I sent Creambloom and Quickleap hunting due to a lack of further instruction from you. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate our omegas. I would've searched continuously, but I had to deal with a minor...distraction."

Quickleap narrowed his eyes at the bird. Yes, yes, this is going to work! he thought, and carefully climbed down to the branch below his, taking care not to disturb the bird. The silvery-grey dog flicked his tail slowly, anticipating the jump, then he did it: he jumped. Quickleap landed on top of the willow bush, causing it to bend quite dramatically over where the goose had been hiding. The young goose honked in outrage, beating it'd wings against the flimsy bush, but before it could escape, Quickleap reached his muzzle through the branches, and grabbed hold of the goose's neck, snapping it instantly. The young bird went still. Quickleap slowly backed off the bush, leading to it rising up again, though looking rather bent and messy. He gingerly took the bird, and carried it to the base of the large oak's trunk, to bury it.

Lupinpaw nodded miserably in response to Nightfire. He followed her towards a different section of camp, trying to swallow the guilty lump in his throat. They approached Blizzardstar, and Nightfire gave her report like he wasn't even there. I'm not a distraction, he thought rebelliously when Nightfire had responded to his alpha. I was trying to help! The pack is somewhat helpless right now! We need prey, and I was trying to get some. Realizing that he still hadn't answered Blizzardstar's question, Lupinpaw awkwardly spoke up. "I'm sorry, I was hunting. The... um..." he trailed off, not entirely sure if he should say anything about Skypack's lack of food and dogs, after Nightfire's reaction. "Won't do it again," he mumbled, suddenly very interested in a patch of grass beneath his paws. I won't do it again, at least I don't think... but I can help too! I can carry my own weight and catch prey, then maybe my pack would realize that they should always let me do it. Lupinpaw pawed at the once-grassy area beneath his paws, which now consisted of lots of upturned roots and soil.
