Quickleap paused once more, thinking hard. Well, my name can't be used against the pack. "Quickleap," he growled, continuing walking. He couldn't bear, however, to pass by this critical question. "How long have you two been by yourselves?" It was a simple question, yet with a lot of insight. It would tell him how capable of hunters they were, and many other things.

A few moments of silence passed as the two picked up thorns and dropped them into their holes, not at the same time though. "It is, and their border isn't far from our territory," Azurepaw added as an answer to her question, although she somewhat answered it herself. I guess she knows more about the packs than she originally thought, he mused. Hearing her throat clear, his ears perked up and then moved back to their normal state when he realized it wasn't to get his attention. Stop jumping to conclusions, Azurepaw thought and sighed inwardly, cursing himself for his hyperactivity. He was practically about to leap out of his pelt. "Memory loss is certainly hard. I'm sorry you have to deal with that," he sympathized, her lie passing over his head. Dropping two more thorns into his hole, Azurepaw glanced over at her and saw that she was still focused on the task. "We were talking about your pack, but you don't have to say anything if you don't want to. I must've been prying, and I apologize for that," he rambled, finally somewhat catching on to what she was thinking.

Frostfall's light blue eyes flicked from bird to bird, trying to assess which would be the best target. "Try to creep up on the other side again." he told Dappleheart. "I'll go after one of the turkeys. If it flees, you can try to drive it back into my path."
That being said, he crept forwards, trying to avoid being seen. A bird like that would provide a decent amount of food, he thought. Perhaps if he moved quickly, he might be able to catch more than one. He might lunge directly for the throat, or perhaps knock them down before going in for the kill. Faster was better, though. When under attack, they often beat their wings, obscuring a dog's vision in a flurry of feathers and making it difficult to get a hold of them. His gaze fastened on one of the turkeys, and he moved stealthily towards his chosen target.

She walked out of the warrior's den, watching her clanmates, only to recognize that again she was slept a little bit too late, but was it a big matter when she was not even needed anywhere.

Her journey had been a long and cautious one, keeping alert and her pace even as to not be heard and conserve what little energy she had left. Curly fur soaked to the bone from the river and coated in mud, her scent was faint due to the mud that covered her. Unfamiliar scents surrounded her and she slowed, hearing voices. Too exhausted to think rationally, she wandered up to the group before collapsing. “Finally other dogs...” she muttered before slowly raising to her paws with shaky legs, her social nature making the loneliness of the journey unbearable. It made her begin to question her decision at one point but she knew the second she left she would be dead to her pack. “Have any of you seen an apprentice aged dog, possibly injured, I’ve been tracking her scent since the river. I found a spot that smelled of blood but continued on the trail.” She asked, lowering herself a little to try to show she was no threat, though her appearance would lead to that conclusion alone.

Dappleheart didn’t like that plan, so instead she went for a bird she was confident she could get. Making sure the flock was between them so any she spooked would go to him as she pounced onto the medium sized hen, using her body to pin it as she caught it, biting until the bird went limp.

Ah, fascinating.. Quickleap's thoughts (and other questions) were further interrupted, however, by the Bernadoodle's appearance. He stared down at her, mind racing. Her scent was faint; undoubtedly the reason he didn't smell her coming, and there was no way he could smell what pack she was from. She is from a pack, though. Looking for an appre- he froze, mind racing. Foxpaw. Of course Riverpack would've sent dogs to retrieve her, but from the state of the dog before him, it looked as though she had been running all night, her fellow searchers had perished, or she had run into the infamous Thunderpack bear. Perhaps all of the above. She was also young, he could see, and he had to assume of Riverpack, and that she was a warrior.
Quickleap was at a loss. Another medicine dog apprentice, and two impressively independent and powerful-looking warriors were a valuable addition to the faltering pack. Sending Mossbrook away with Foxpaw would probably not only end in both of their deaths, but a critical loss to Skypack as well. "Come with me," he said finally. "And... and if the dog you are seeking goes by the name of Foxpaw, yes she is here."

She was really starting to feel her exhaustion by the time she arrived to camp. She noticed, with a twinge of irritation, that the small moment in which her eyes closed briefly during blinking felt infinitely better than when they were open. Being the logical dog she was, the idea that creatures who could only survive through defending themselves and could only defend themselves while awake needed to not be awake for several hours on a daily basis was asinine. Shaking her head sideways, roughly, more to wake herself up than to deter any bugs zipping around it, she began scanning the camp for her leader. She found her soon enough, though she couldn't imagine what she was doing. The beta could only trust that it was something important. Before she approached, she licked her paw and drew it over the ripped ear to draw away some of the excess blood, effectively reducing how serious it appeared. "Greetings, Alpha," she murmured, dipping her head infinitesimally to express her respect. "I'd like to inquire about Dappleheart's current state of health. Has she been treated for her minor injury? Additionally, though I'm sure you've seen it by now, we encountered a foreign pup along the border, probably RiverPack by scent. I mention it because I care to know what your...first impressions are. I personally believe that she could be a valuable asset to the Pack, Alpha."

She smiled sheepishly at the other dog, replying, "I-It's fine! Of c-course, I normally would be entirely willing to share the deepest, most confidential vulnerabilities and secrets of my Pack, but, um...memory loss." Feeling the awkwardness and frailty of her own lie, she quickly squeezed her jaws shut. When her teeth met, she felt a jarring jolt of pain flash through her mouth and she almost yelped before she could stifle it. She'd been so focused on shutting up and not looking worse that she'd bitten down on the final thorn she'd been carrying, right before the hole she'd been aiming to drop it in. Glancing back to ensure the other apprentice wasn't watching her, she reached up into her mouth with a shaky paw, clawing at the tiny space between her top right fang and an incisor, where the thorn was painfully lodged. It took a bit more effort to pry it out than Foxpaw had been hoping, and the moment it fell out and fell down into her hole, which should've been a relief, peaked her anxiety. She swallowed and felt, tentatively, the sore patch of her mouth with her tongue. Blood. Perfect. Hurriedly, she covered her completed pile with soil and returned to the interior of the den, swallowing again (mostly to rid herself of some strongly-scented blood, which had begun to pool into her mouth in a small trickle) as she tried to steady her nerves. Anyone with a decent ability to read social cues would've picked up immediately on her nervousness, with her darting eyes, shifting feet, and thumping ribcage, but she'd been around Azurepaw long enough to admit to herself that this behavior probably appeared normal for Foxpaw specifically.

Abruptly, she asked, "C-Can I go scouting for herbs for the stock?" The request wasn't a total lie; she did want to find some medicine, even if it was for her mouth and not the medicine den. More than anything, though, she really just felt like she ought to escape. Azurepaw seemed nice enough and his Pack less ill-willed than she'd initially given them credit for, but what choice did she have? As weird as it felt to lie to this apprentice, it felt weirder to neglect RiverPack. Then, it suddenly occurred to her: Wait a minute. He's probably going to want to come too; you're not supposed to be alone, idiot, and he's also a medicine dog, more than you are. I'm so dumb, dang it!

She watched the conversation between the two-pack dogs, rather confused as she figured out that the new dog was likely from another pack or something. There where some questions for her head, but for now, she didn't want any response to them, not wanting to bother the two.

Mossbrook looked instantly relieved at the news of Foxpaw’s safety, though she wouldn’t believe it until she saw her for herself. Looking up at the two others, she looked unsure, able to tell they weren’t from a pack from looking at them. Standing slowly, her legs shook, paws covered in wounds from sharp rocks and thorns, running all night being hard on them especially after being so wet. She tried her best not to limp, though there was a small hint of it as she followed Quickleap.

"I've had a little experience with memory loss. I mean, not myself. Treating it in other dogs," he explained and smiled back at her. Although the smile was shy, Azurepaw was glad that she was somewhat opening up to him. At least it seemed to be that way. When her smile disappeared, he dropped the thorn in the hole and counted the ones so far. Although there was no need for it, Azurepaw wanted to give the other apprentice as much space as possible. It was painful to stay so still and not leap to his paws, but he didn't want to scare Foxpaw off with his hyperactivity. He wagged his tail rapidly and smacked it against the ground.

Finally giving up, he stood up and padded into the den. At her question, Azurepaw paused and thought for a moment. As much as he wanted to let her go, he knew that Blackrose or one of the high-ranked dogs would be mad. "Um, sure. Do you want me to go with you? I probably should because I know where everything is, and I can show you around the territory," Azurepaw rambled quickly. "Because you'll be helping me out, of course."
