xxxxxxDim rays of sunshine had made their way through the opening in the hollow yet sturdy fallen tree that served as the alpha's den, waking its dweller from not-so-long nap. Blizzardstar slowly rose up to her full size and shook the entirety of her fur which was all she needed to do in order to overcome the tiredness that usually followed. At least for the first few minutes after that - given the alpha's overnight guarding duty, the fatigue that came with it would inevitably catch up to her sooner or later that day. So she'd better get back on duty and forget all about that minor inconvenience.
xxxxxxThe alusky ducked briefly in order to avoid the jagged edge of the opening in the bark before sunlight washed over her body, sending a wave of warmth over her spine. Just a few moments were in order for her eyes to adjust to the light before she took a surveying glance around camp. The pile of fresh-kill had gotten smaller over the last few days but the pack's warriors have been bringing prey as often as they could. The sun had risen up but the thick canopy of leaves overhead was blocking the majority of the warm light out - at least the pack wouldn't be subject to the occasionally scorching heat. Blizzardstar took a few sniffs of the air as her head turned to the other side slowly - from what she could tell, a couple of her packmates were out and about, their distinctive scents still fresh. The she-dog recognized those of Nightfire, the pack's deputy and Creambloom, a young warrior. Not as many as she'd like to be seeing, the alusky had to admit. But time was of the essence - the quicker everybody's gathered and ready to be assigned any additional duties, the better chance of everybody taking their rest and recovering from a day of hard work.
xxxxxxBlizzardstar let out two resonant barks as a sign for every dog who was present to turn up to her - strength is found in numbers, she liked to think. And the pack truly needed that kind of strength in order to make it through those difficult times. "Members of Skypack! she called out, her voice echoing throughout the camp, "Are you all present now?"
