The same fox charged at the group. Emberstorm was about to leap to attack it, but it seemed like Duskpelt had it taken care of. Why is the fox so determined? Why would it attack a whole group of dogs? "Maybe the fox has a litter around here or something. She could be protecting her kits." That would make things complicated. Hope its not... "Should we look around?"

Willowstep brought the moss balls back in, before beginning to sort the herbs and seeds. She couldn’t help but be worried for her pack, a fox-and a hawk? That wasn’t good-especially for the pups. She sighed, sitting in the corner of the den and glancing at the resting canine. Hopefully Moosestar wouldn’t lecture him about standing against two major threats on his own-it was pretty brave of him. In fact, he should get some praise to come out of there alive. She sighed, getting up and trotting to the fresh kill stock, taking a plump rabbit, and bringing it back. She placed it at the paws of the sleeping dog, hopefully when he woke up he’d feel good enough to eat, it would help strengthen him.

Duskpelt sighed, looking around as the dogs came to a halt. Her stance y’all and aware of her surroundings..it seemed quiet, too quiet for her. ”fox” she spat shortly, padding a big ways from them to sniff out the area. She could indeed smell the faintness of the small dogs bloodshed and fear. Then she heard it.. a few rigs cracked and snapped and she whipped around to see the quick flash of orangey brown pelt out through the bushes. She quickly stepped in front of the dogs, her eyes narrowed as she looked at the frozen predator. ”don’t move a muscle” she growled, her eyes narrowed as she saw the fox sneak another step closer to them, standing in a battle stance in front of the four dogs. She wasn’t going to let this fox touch a hair on her packmates’ coats. The fox lunged towards Eaglepaw, the smallest of the bunch, and Duskpelt reacted just in time, the canine bolting into its ribs and bowling it onto the ground before it could clamp its jaws around her apprentice. It had some scratches and bites from the recent battle with the canines. It was already weakened. She lunged at it, pinning half of its body onto the dirt and nipping at its neck. The fox’s head lifted to bite her on the shoulder, the canine keeping in a grunt of pain before sinking her teeth into the base of its neck, with such rage and fury that the fox let out a shriek of terror, struggling beneath her. The orange predator snaked from under her, prying itself from her jaws and scurrying past the hedge, and away. She spat out the orange fur of bitter taste, her face still in a deadly snarl, ”it’s the same fox from before.. it keeps coming back, there must be a family of them- we need to drive them out or kill them before they can get to the camp” she said lowly, her eyes still fixed on where it had fled to. ”Eaglepaw, you’re alright though, right?” she asked, a hint of worry in her tone.

Eaglepaw froze, obeying Duskpelt's order to stay still. It charged suddenly, heading in his direction, and Eaglepaw yelped. He surprised himself by letting out a little growl, and crouching low for the impact, but Duskpelt charged in in the nick of time, quickly subduing the fox. Eaglepaw watched it run off, and then he realized he was still growling. Strange how different dogs react to fear, he reflected. When Duskpelt asked if he was alright, Eaglepaw responded, "Am I alright? Of course I'm alright! You stopped it too quickly to get me! Are... are you alright?" Eaglepaw asked, sniffing his mentor's shoulder, and giving a gentle, very soft lick.

He jumped in surprise as the fox leaped but calmed down as Duskpelt defended Eaglepaw and chased the fox away. "I think the fox has gotten the message, I don't think she'll bother us anymore." Besides I don't want to know what these dogs will do if they find defenseless pups. As he thought that, images of his sister flooded his memories. So cute and small, playful and curious. Then the pack of evil dogs came and took her life at only three moons old. He sighed sadly then shook his head he didn't want to remember that.

Eaglepaw looked towards Nightpaw, cocking his head. Would they get the message? He, personally, thought so, but if Duskpelt and the others wanted to chase them out, surely they weren't wrong? Eaglepaw glanced uneasily back to the bushes.

She looked over at her "it's was not pack that yours could be it's was a pack of rogues and dogs like that" she said silently. Shaking her head she looked at Acornpup "I better maybe go to see if I can find my brother..." she said to her.

He flicked his ears curiously "home? you have a home?" he said with a flick of his black tail "so you're a pet dog right? I've never meet pet dogs going this far from their owners" he said thoughtfully.

He listened to the other patrol dogs, thinking about what they were being talked about a vixen having pups maybe "could the vixen leave on its own with the pups when she found out that there are dogs nearby?" he said to them "and anyway they're not on our territory either? Why do we need to chase them away? just let's keep our eyes more open so we can handle the situation if the foxes start to become a problem?" he keeps saying.

Eaglepaw blinked at Ashpaw. It sounded like a good idea, but he wasn't going to go against what the warriors had to say. And what would the vixen do? Take her pups with her? Eaglepaw knew that they were very, very distant relatives with foxes, though foxes didn't have half the heart. So... if she didn't take the pups... Eaglepaw blanched at this thought. No, a dog could never[/i] take in a baby fox. That's absurd. No, no, no, no...[/i] Eaglepaw shook his head violently, causing his ears to flap against his face.

Emberstorm nodded at Ashpaw's suggestion. "Yeah, I agree. No need to chase them out, if they're not a problem. Let's just send out a few extra patrols these days just to make sure. Let's go back to camp and report to Moosestar." She turned to Duskpelt. "Do you agree?"

Duskpelt finally nodded in agreement, ”alright, there won’t be any need to shed blood, but we do need to be extra careful with the apprentices, Emberstorm, you should report this to Moosestar with Nightpaw, after all, Nightpaw did help Mouseheart out” she nodded, ”However, we shouldn’t just come back to camp empty mouthed, let’s try to hunt for a bit” she suggested.
