AshClan. No, not named after what happens after a fire dies out, its the tree. They live in a large
ash-tree forest, and they're quite happy with it. The forest has been a haven for the cats for many moons, with no
problems whatsoever. They are isolated from any other cat, and theres none of those two-legs about, oh no.
But, these trees, this haven, might be the downfall for this small clan. See, the trees are dying out. Something
seems to be eating them from the inside, and the cats can't do anything about it. The trees fall over with no warning,
fall over on top of cats. They don't know what to do. Leave the forest that has been a good and faithful home to the
cats for so long, or risk staying, where who knows what is going to happen?

Stormstrike paced around the camp, her paws flicking against the red leaves on the ground. She was mostly just waiting for the medicine cats to get back, so then she could congratulate the newly named Shellpaw, or whatever he was going to be named, and then she could go to sleep. Today had been a big day. She stopped walking around camp, and sat down, giving a small sigh.

Sandpaw raced enthusiastically back from the forest, grinning broadly. Hanging from his mouth was as much prey as he could carry, which, considering his small mouth, wasn't that much. The leaves exploded behind him and he could feel the cool air rushing along beside him as he ran. He eventually arrived in camp, panting hard from his little bit of exercise. The apprentice dropped his catch in the fresh-kill pile and looked around for someone to talk to.

Stormstrike looked around impatiently. She was getting tired, but guessed it would be bad etiquette to go to bed when there was a new medicine cat around. An orange apprentice burst into camp, jaws full of prey. Sandpaw. Not who she was looking for. She looked around for her own apprentice, Starlingpaw. But she was nowhere to be seen. The tabby warrior gave another irritated sigh.

Today was a big day for the clan, a new medicine cat was given his name. It was always a blessing when the young got their new names and truly discovered their full potential in helping the clan thrive. I could say that I was pleased with the current things happening in the clan. All good things seemed to be going on, and that was always good news, welcomed news. Having no apprentice to train I had simply done the things I was assigned to do throughout the day, such as patrolling and hunting. The life of a warrior wasn't always as easy as it seemed to be right now, but I was enjoying the tranquility for the time being. I spotted Stormstrike looking a little irritated for some reason. I could go ask her about it, but I wasn't quite sure what to make of her.

I didn't dislike her, she was a good warrior and part of me wanted to think of her as a friend, but she was a little bit confusing. I never knew how to feel around her so I was always a little on edge around her, but I tried not to let it show. I didn't want her thinking that I hated her company or anything, I just needed to get used to her. If I ever could. It had been a cold day today, I missed the warmth, but I could not control the weather, sometimes I wished I could, but that would never happen. At the end of the day all I could really do was hope that the cold wouldn't last too long. Cold was dangerous, and I didn't want to see the clan suffering because of it. A yawn parted my jowls and I started to groom myself, cleaning off the work of the day and smoothing out my fur, keeping alert for any trouble.

Sandpaw burst into the camp with prey locked in his jaws, this caught my attention and I looked over to him, impressed with his catch. I was a new apprentice, and I was given Foxpond as a mentor, the deputy, which I couldn't be happier about. I had looked up to Briarstar and Foxpond ever since I was just a little kit, barely big enough to walk on my own, but now I was going to become a strong apprentice and an even better warrior someday. My aspiration was to be just like my heroes, strong and beautiful, and looked up to, oh! Respected by everybody too, I wanted to reach those heights someday, but I realized that I was still young and had a lot to learn. If I could reach my goals it would be through hard work, no short cuts for this apprentice.

A smile fell across my face, content and spreading warmth through the rest of my body even in the cold. The day was coming to an end, so I wasn't sure there was much else for me to do, and I didn't see my mentor nearby. If I did see her I would ask her if there was anything I needed to do, still being new at this whole thing I wasn't afraid to admit I needed a little bit of direction. I knew the basic duties of an apprentice, I had been watching the various ranks since I was a kit, but what happened outside of camp was a mystery to me. Patrols and hunting, training to fight, of course all of those things, but the process was what I didn't know. Was it difficult? Well whatever the procedure was I would face it eagerly and do my best to overcome any obstacles in my way. That was the only way I knew how to do things.

Moonfrost purred ''I think thats a good idea.'' The female continued ''We can do some training later on today as well.'' Moonfrost was enjoying the weather today, it was sunny and cool.
