oooAracari followed the lead of his queen, careful not to get too far ahead or behind. The way back home sure did feel a lot longer with the hybrid in tow, but he was confident that the tranquil dart would last as long as they needed it to. He glanced back at the ocean as he heard the water stir, but then turned his focus on what was ahead. The destruction of the rainforest was so long ago, but you could see the lasting effect it had. There was only scarce patches of green ground that was trying to grow, and some adhered stumps still remained with moss growing on the northern sides of the blackened bark. He supposed the rainforest wouldn’t grow back in his lifetime, and who knew if it ever would come back? It probably took the forest forever to grow, now it was all gone except the small portion that they now all called home. The tribe was cramped, and food was becoming harder to ration. The NightWings were having a hard time finding meats for sustenance, and RainWings were beginning to fear that their strict diet was under threat. With home in the distance he decided to go above the canopy. It wasn’t very sheltered, but it would be hard to duck and weave through vines and trees while carrying another dragon.

oooFlicker couldn’t help but nod in agreement, trying to be as agreeable with Shard as he could. Truthfully he didn’t like his name, he would have preferred something more IceWing. An IceWing name sure would make him feel like he really belonged. As much as he loved living here, he couldn’t help but find that sometimes thoughts of escaping crept into his mind. He wondered if he should be living among the SkyWings instead. Did he really deserve the life that he got here, for better or for worse? He always shook out that afterthought. He may not deserve to be here, but he was lucky enough to be here. This place wasn’t bad at all, the absolute best in his opinion. He had nothing to compare it to except his own speculations of what life in other kingdoms was like. The Kingdom of Sand was uncomfortably scorching, the sun beating down with unrelenting fury. Then there was the Kingdom of Sea, Flicker wasn’t a good swimmer at all so he would rather not be there. The Kingdom of Mud was disgustingly muddy, and he’s heard about the awful humidity in the Rainforest Kingdom. He thought perhaps a bit too long, only able to think of mountain ranges and clear skies. He could think of any cons about the place, but was sure he would come up with something afterwards.
oooWhen Shard offered to check up on Penguin, Flicker modded his head. ”That would be appreciated. Thank you so much, Shard. I really, really owe you one.” This seemed like one of those moments where one would nudge wings in a friendly way, but Flicker held himself back. He’s been told that his scales are uncomfortably warm, which meant no friendly touches whatsoever. That was fine with him though, glad to just be allowed in the presence of the other Fifth Circle dragons every now and then.

oooOnce Blast was seated, Medemia returned her attention to her son. A new mission to the Rainforest, and a small one at that? What was the point to that? Perhaps it might be useful to quickly map the enemy territory for an upcoming attack, but a group of SandWings would certainly not go unnoticed, and the idea of sending in her son mad her scales itch uncomfortably. Medemia couldn’t risk losing her son to the enemy. They could use him as ransom for RainWing prisoners, or just kill him on sight. Medemia shook her head, snorting in distaste at the mere idea of sending Sacarius into the Rainforest. Besides, the cowardly RainWings were not the queen’s biggest worry at the moment.
ooo”I’m sorry Sacarius, but tell the commander I deny his plan. I will not risk my son’s capture by the enemy, especially the RainWings. I’d rather be focusing on a possible new enemy as of now now.” Medemia glanced at the map on the wall to her left. Strategies were traced out in many colors, detailing where the SandWing troops were located and their extensive movements. Her eyes landed on the neutral MudKingdom. What was making them go quiet? The queen could only assume a possible alliance with the RainWings was underway. ”I need information on the MudWings. The queen is hiding something from me, I just know it. Tell the commander that I want a spy inside the Kingdom of Mud. If we can disguise them as a representative of a possible peace treaty.”
