remains of it. Our existence among the many
islands of the archipelago has been a sorrowful
one, and we have to struggle for every drink
and scrap of food to eat. The waters are rising,
driving us towards the mainland...towards the
Tribe. They will not welcome us, but we do

it was unexpected . . .

Many, many moons ago,
on a vast island teeming with lush forests — surrounded by powerful waves and opalescent seas — there lived two groups: The Tribe of Crashing Waves and a small band of rogues who had washed up on the shores. The Tribe had laid claim to their island and existed on it solely on their own, never before having encountered any outsiders. Over time, the groups learned to respect one another, and the rogues became something more unified: IsleClan. Unfortunately, their leader — a young and ambitious tom named Palmstar — sought more of the land that the Tribe had ceded to them upon their arrival to the island.

Instead of declaring war, he secretly led his warriors into the heart of the Tribal camp and slaughtered every cat he could. The Tribe fought back and took many clan lives, and due to their regal power and stalwartness Palmstar’s attack was put down; he and his remaining clan were driven off of the island. They took refuge on a smaller island connected to the mainland by a series of tiny, uninhabitable islands that make up the two groups’ archipelago. Angered, Palmstar swore revenge and began to brainwash everyone into thinking the Tribe was at fault for their misgivings, as life on IsleClan’s island is harsh and he refused to own up to his wrongdoings.

Now, many, many moons later,
Palmstar’s son, Creststar, is in charge, and he’s just as determined (and bloodthirsty) as his father. Rising sea levels have made IsleClan’s home smaller and smaller, spurring Creststar onward in his plan to bring down the Tribe for good. No clan cat has made contact with the Tribe since they were exiled, and all have been convinced to think that Palmstar was the innocent one, that it was the Tribe who had crept in the night and murdered helpless cats. They are scared, they are angry, and they have no choice but to follow their raging leader. A storm is gathering on the horizon — whose side are you on?

meet The Tribe of Crashing Waves . . .

this ancient group of cats are a very hardy group who possess the necessary skills to make a proper living in the harsh environment of the tropical rainforest. They are admirable hunters who climb, swim, and run with great speed and accuracy; they attack with unparalleled stealth and strength, and their wisdom runs as deep as the massive roots of all the great trees in the forest. Many wish to be them — all fear them. The Tribe is characterized as merciless and dauntless, but those who earn their respect will be treated as equals.

meet IsleClan . . .

IsleClan cats are tough and resilient and have long been known for their crafty use of words and actions to get what they want. They’re skilled in fishing and bringing down large prey such as gulls and predatory mammals. Working as a team is their biggest strong-suit, and many an IsleClan cat feel misplaced without a fellow companion at their side. As a result of Palmstar’s and Creststar’s reigns, IsleClan cats have grown to either fear or resent the Tribe for what they believe to be the slaughter of innocent clan cats.

a few rankings explained . . .

▪ chieftain: leader of the tribe. This role is passed on to the chieftain’s offspring. Possesses nine lives like a clan leader

▪ regent: the second-in-command. The regent may step in as chieftain once the current chieftain dies if the deceased chieftain’s kits are too young or inexperienced to assume command

▪ shawman: the cat who possesses the ability to speak directly with The Tribe of Stars at any given time (though the Tribe may not respond), and also the cat who interprets signs and omens. The shawman is deeply respected and is absolutely forbidden from having a mate or offspring. The shawman’s successor is chosen by the shawman and can be any cat, be it a kit or an elder.

▪ healer: unlike a medicine cat, the healer does not communicate with StarClan. His or her only job is to heal wounds. Healers also harvest and store frog poison that the Tribe uses to dip their claws in during a fight or battle. Healers may take a mate and have kits if their apprentice can handle the workload until the healer can resume duties

▪ leader, deputy, warriors, apprentices, etcetera: same as the books
