Nightshade grinned. "Perfect," she purred. Then she smiled broadly, pretending to drop her threatening manner. "Look at the sky, Mintwhisker. It is a new dawn, a new day. Your loyalty will be rewarded by Starclan." She looked into the tree, and nodded at Rubykit. "My name was Ravenheart, and this was my daughter, Swiftkit." She looked back at Mintwhisker. "We have been dead many seasons, but at dawn we are allowed to roam the forest, to enter dreams, to speak with cats of our choosing." Old fool, she thought, keeping a kind smile on her face. Starclan- ha! Where perished cats roam freely amongst the stars. Fools! The ones who know that Starclan doesn't exist hold the real power. We do things for ourselves, instead of begging dead cats to do things for us.

Splashclaw began sniffing around the forest. "Where is Mintwhisker's scent?" he mewed frustrated. He kept sniffing trying to find a trace of it.

Mintwhisker looked at her in disblief.

Suntail sniffed for his brothers scent, then he found the mouse he had buried. "Splashclaw! Over here, I found a part of his trail!"

Berrysong padded out of the warrior's den. She looked around for something to do.

Splashclaw raced over to Suntail. He dug up the mouse and touched it. "Its still a bit warm. We aren't too far behind him." he said.

"Good morning Berrysong" Roseheart mewed.

Berrysong looked over. She smiled. "Hello, Roseheart."

"Yes," said Nightshade, drawing closer to him. "We bring news for your leader, Skystar." She grinned and lunged, sinking her fangs into his throat. Shaking her head like a dog, she tossed him aside and licked blood from her lips. "One of his warriors has died. Tell him that, would you?" She grinned, her fangs stained red with blood. "Oh, and, don't forget to inform the dawn patrol." She flicked her tail and jumped into the tree, the salty tang of blood obscuring her own light scent. She crouched silently in the shadows, watching the forest below, Rubykit at her side. Mintwhisker seemed to still be alive, and the Dawn Patrol was coming fast. She grinned. Excellent. He won't survive, of course, but this will be fun to watch.
