The tall, hairless tom woke upon Wrenpaw's stirring, the silent commotion enough to pull him from his rest. Each time he opened his eyes he expected to see another clanmate dead or gone - he'd been the one to find Amberpaw, then Budgiepaw was sent away? Memories still sent sickened chills down his spine. Though it wasn't like he could go pester his mentor about it - Sparrowdusk had lost two kits in the same day. A cat would have to be an idiot to complain to the tom so soon.
Goosepaw pulled himself quickly out of his nest, swiping stray scraps of moss away with his tongue in hopes of providing some sense of routine to his shaken psyche. Hunting would be good, right? But... Sparrowdusk. Massive ears pinned back against his head, Goosepaw skittered out of the apprentices den, nearly knocking into Wrenpaw in his haste. "Oh!" He breathed, ducking his head in a brief apology. "Didn't see you, sorry." Any other day he would've made some joke about Wrenpaw loafing around and getting under his paws, but it didn't feel right. Not this morning. Goosepaw paused for a moment, surveying the other carefully before his maw curled into a nervous frown. "Hey, um, if Ivyshade takes you out for training today, would it be alright if I asked to tag along? I want to be useful, but I don't feel right bothering Sparrowdusk about it, y'know?"
