Rainpetal widened her blue eyes and smiled, letting out a small meow of laughter. In the pocket of silence Rainpetal got hit with the sudden smell of garlic just a few mouse lengths away near the border, when they got closer Rainpetal saw how few there were and thanked Lepida for letting her reach it in time before it was eaten by some wandering prey or claimed by Autumnclan.

“Good thing I’m here,” Petalstar mentioned playfully, as she also picked up the scent. “If any Autumnclan cats want to give you a hard time for being close to the border, I’ll be there to vouch for you.” She unsheathed her claws and began to dig through the dirt, her tail twitching excitedly. She had the aura of a kit playing in fresh snow.

Rainpetal laughed at her playful demeanor,"Thank you great Petalstar." she said humor dancing in her beautiful gaze.

Petalstar came back up from the earth, her head raised proudly. She had three cloves of garlic in her jaw. “I’m sure there’s more around here, somewhere,” she said.

“My breath’s gonna be lovely,” she joked, looking again for small stems in the dirt. As she dug, a cat walked behind the border. It, coincidentally, was Fallingstar.

She stared with her wide eyes. “What in Folio’s name are you doing so close to the border?” Her voice was a rare sound to hear.

Fallingstar’s blank, wide expression didn’t falter. “I’m not talking to you. I’m talking to your leader.” She didn’t sound hostile in her tone, but her words carried enough intention.

Petalstar scoffed, her sharp canine showing out of the corner of her mouth. “I’m helping one of my warriors collect herbs. We’re preparing for the winter season. Not all of us have all the power in the world right now,” she said, referring to the fall season.

Fallingstar sat down. “Yes, I know that. Why are you doing it in my territory?”

Fallingstar’s mood was unreadable. “The border is a few feet back,” she said. “It’s a bit early for my warriors to have re-marked it, but the scent is still distinct.” Despite her ditzy expression, her words held much confidence.

Petalstar’s tail twitched, and her paws were finnicky. “If you want more territory, this is something that can be discussed at the next gathering,” she said. “But it’s been agreed that our territory extends here.”

After a long and tense silence, Petalstar spoke again. “We’ll take these herbs and get out of your fur.”

Fallingstar said nothing as Petalstar gestured for Rainpetal to walk off with her. When Petalstar began walking away, Fallingstar blinked and calmly walked back to her camp.

Rainpetal glanced back, expecting Fallingstar's vacant gaze. She stared forward again the taste of garlic burning her mouth. Narrowing her pretty blue gaze. She knew how calculating Fallingstar could be, she knew her mind was much greater than most cats thought. Even if they didn't think that she was vacant, Rainpetal didn't think they knew how smart this cat was. She dismissed the thought.
