Mudkit felt her vision go black, getting ready to give up on life. Her lungs burned and she was growing tired. She gave a few more kicks and her head broke the surface. She dug her claws into the bank, but then went limp. She was to tired to do anything else, but hang on.

Midnight looked at Larson, not sure how to answer."He's a clan cat. His clan doesn't even know of these kits."she looked at Birthday as she heard a noise outside."Birthday, can you watch my kits? I want to go see whats going on outside."

He saw the Mudkit and Rosekit, standing by the lake and looking into the water. He lowered his hackles, and went to go tell the kits to go back into camp and bring them too their mothers. He saw Mudkit fall in, and Rosekit desperately trying to save Mudkit. He rushed over there, his heart pounding in his chest. He reached down and dragged the kit out of the water and pulled her well away from the water. "Are you ok? What were you thinking!" He said, looking at the coughing kit.

Larson nodded, about to open his jaw to speak when he thought better of it. He got up and padded out of the den, his ears pricked as he heard a noise. "Hello?" he meowed, digging his claws into the ground.

He sniffed the air as he neared the border picking up the faint scent of Midnight. "Midnight." He called softly.

She looked up at Oakpaw. "We wanted to drink from the river. It's boring in camp and we wanted to explore." She explained. "Minnowkit's no fin. He never plays with me. What am I supposed to do? Sit around all day?"

Mudkit could hardly hear Oakpaw as she weakly coughed. She then just lay there, not having enough energy to move. Water trickled from her mouth and she was finding it hard to breath, but she didn't have enough strength."I."she couldn't say any more as she gave another small cough, finding it harder and harder to keep her eyes open.

Midnight padded out of the den, scenting the air. She detected two-leg, but it was to late. A two-leg, who had noticed her a few days earlier and had come to find her, picked her up and shoved her in a silver crate before heading to a monster.
