Whitefeather blinked as Crowflight joined them. Blinking as she saw Whitekit, she frowned. "It's nothing for young kits like you to worry about," she meowed gently. "Bubblefur and Crowflight will take care of it," she meowed, trying to heard the kit back to the nursery.

Firestrike
Tom || Warrior || Thunderclan || Tagged: Patrol, Whitefeather, Whitekit

Firestrike was planning to go talk to Scaleheart and bring her along on the patrol, but Harrierstar had shown up and from there he had ended up more than a little sidetracked. From there he had stuck around and listened to what everyone had to say, up until Crowflight came skidding back into camp. Lizardfang had been drowned according to him, but the reason as to how was baffling him to think about. If they were at war with Riverclan, why would she be over there in the first place? He did want to hear more about what had happened (and swat whoever came up with the idea of taking Lizardfang out of camp over the head), but Whitekit's voice interrupted him. "Whitefeather's right there, Whitekit. Why don't go play with your brother or the apprentices for a bit?" Firestrike suggested, tail twitching at the bad thought of her running off or something.

Crowflight | windclan | warrior

He huffed, pulling in a deep breath. "She's in a beaver dam." He shook his head, "C'mon, if you don't believe me." He turned, hiding the fear in his eyes. He didn't want to go back. It was gross, creepy. It would haunt him for a while. He left camp, hoping the others were following and he wasn't going back alone.
Upon reaching the damn, he looked ahead grimly. "There. See her? In between the logs."

Caimantooth • Trans molly • Thunderclan Elder

Crowflight's yowling was what drew her out of her den, tail bristling in alarm at the call. Lizardfang? Windcla: deputy was... what? A log? The mental image that shoved to the forefront of her mind had the elder skidding to a halt before she even crossed the threshold of the elders den, bile rising in her throat. "Rook -" she called back into the den, trying to soothe the sickness churning in her belly. "Rook, there was another death - Crowflight just ran into camp saying Lizardfang's been turned into a - a log."

Goldenfang

"A WHAT?" she exclaimed upon hearing what the others were saying. Gathering information, her eyes went wide. No, not another death, and a gruesome one at that. Someone had pushed Lizardfang into the river and now it's flooding up. Horror rose up in her stomach and she nearly puked. Composing herself, she lay down outside the warriors den and stuffed her face into her paws.

Terrorspirit
molly - warrior - camp I guess?? - tags: open

Terrorspirit noticed her two kits safe and alive, so she didn't have to wait for some sort of reply.
She was about to go to check on Wrenpaw in the medicine cat den, but she got distracted by
the commotion that suddenly sprung up.
She sprinted to the side of the camp, so she could listen from a distance, instead of being right
among the panicked cats. Her ears were perked up, and her eyes were dilated.

There were a few things she picked up from listening for a while. Lizardfang was dead, and used as
a log for a dam.
How cruel! she thought, her ears now twisted back, I understand there's a murderer, but
why? Why would anyone kill someone like that?
She was both horrified and disgusted.
What a terrible, terrible way to die, the tone of her thoughts changed to sympathy for Lizardfang,
your final moments would be those of a panic, as you struggle to release yourself from the dam that
traps you.

Terrorspirit was never one for hating or revenge, but this was one of the most horrible things she'd
ever heard someone do. Whoever committed such a dreadful crime deserved far more than exile, but
there was nothing Terrorspirit could do about it.
Being somewhat a coward, she had to sit by the sidelines and watch the frightened clan, as they tried to
figure out who was doing these horrendous acts.
It was painful, to say the least, but it was who she was! She had no control over her anxieties and
shakes, which made it impossible to even attempt to be heroic.

It Took Me By Surprise, The Hatred In His Eyes

Postby rookie rook » Thu Nov 08, 2018 12:18 pm

The Exile wrote:

Honeystar leaped up the highrock, Harrierstar following closely behind. Over the past four exiles, the two clans of cats had realized that a clan meeting would start the moment accusations were thrown. Once cats had started getting hostile, their calmer clanmates had turned towards the highrock, waiting to cast their votes. No one seemed to enjoy clan meetings anymore. They were always forcing out one of their clanmates, a cat they had grown up with and come to respect, only to find that they had been no more guilty than any other cat.

Things were different this time.

Last time, everyone had glanced around the camp uncomfortably, trying to pick out a suspect they believed was capable of killing innocent cats. Over the past four exiles, the cats had seemed lost, looking to their friends for guidance and reassurance. The kits had hidden away behind their parents, their clanmates’ glares and arguing making them nervous. But this time, every glance seemed to linger on one cat in particular. Kits and queens alike sent Pigeonpaw untrusting looks, the occasional warrior snarling at her in disgust. Her fellow apprentices kept their distance, huddling together near the warriors and glancing worriedly at her as they whispered.

Harrierstar himself made no attempt to hide his fury towards the young apprentice, a fire shining in his eyes everytime they glanced over her. Once the two clans had gathered in front of the high rock, Harrierstar signaled with his tail for silence. The Thunderclan cats were quick to quiet themselves, Windclan following suit.

Bowing his head, Harrierstar spoke to the two clans with a calm yet firm tone. “Thunderclan and Windclan, we have gathered you together to address Lizardfang’s death. Although we cannot be certain, it is likely that Windclan’s deputy was another murder victim.” He raised his head to meet the eyes of his deputy, Bubblefur, a solemn expression crossing his face. “We cannot sit by and allow this to happen again, we have to take action. I ask you to cast your vote so that your voice may be heard, and with Starclan’s blessing may we exile the guilty cat among us.”

The moment Harrierstar stopped talking, several cats started shouting Pigeonpaw’s name. They were quick to call out the apprentice, casting accusing glances her way as they announced their vote. Pigeonpaw stayed silent, her ears pressed against her neck in a feeble attempt to block out the voices around her. Finally Harrierstar raised his tail once again, and all fell quiet.

“Pigeonpaw.”

The young apprentice was surprised to hear Honeystar’s voice, the leader of Windclan stepping forwards on the highrock. Her eyes gave away her emotional conflict, her ears pricked awkwardly as she tried to keep them from lying flat. Steeling herself, the leader took a deep breath before speaking once more, her gaze never leaving Pigeonpaw.

“You have been found guilty of murdering Lizardfang. You are to leave this territory and never return to the clans. Do you understand?”

Pigeonpaw’s legs shook as she felt the weight of everyone’s eyes on her. She shook her head, walking closer to the highrock as she struggled to think. What could she say? She had been found guilty- no one would believe her if she denied it, or if she told the truth, or if she apologized.

She stopped a few tail-lengths away from the intimidating stand the leaders stood on, her paws feeling numb and heavy as she tried to move them. She tried to meet Honeystar’s gaze only to falter at the disappointment and contempt she found in her leader’s eyes. Shaking her head, she forced herself to voice what little she could.

“I never wanted this. I’m sorry.” She paused, not sure how to apologize for something so horrible. “I’m so sorry.”

Harrierstar was the first to react, immediately jumping to his feet and lashing his tail. He bared his teeth as he glared down at the small apprentice, any traces of sympathy or doubt having left with Pigeonpaw’s words. He snarled, growling out a horrid noise before stopping to compose himself. He sealed his eyes shut, his claws scraping at the stone beneath his feet. When he finally opened his eyes, he carried a strange sense of calm with him. Pigeonpaw’s stomach sank as the leader began to smile.

“Finally,” He growled. “We finally found you. You thought you would get away with this, didn’t you?” He spoke directly to Pigeonpaw now, seemingly having forgotten that two clans were listening in on their conversation.

Pigeonpaw fidgeted, looking at the ground when Harrierstar’s gaze grew to be too frightening. He continued smiling, looking very pleased with himself as he spoke.

“You may have wounded us, fox-heart,” he spat out the phrase like poison. “But Thunderclan is still strong. We will not crumble just because a puny little Riverclan spy wants us dead.”

Harrierstar stood tall, his chest puffed out in a clear display of strength and confidence. He nodded towards Bubblefur, and in a moment the meek deputy was standing beside Pigeonpaw, ready to drag her away if Harrierstar asked him to. Thunderclan’s leader shifted his gaze back towards the clan, speaking to them as well as Pigeonpaw.

“Our clan will keep going, stronger than ever. Thunderclan will survive this obvious sabotage by Riverclan, and come out of it more powerful and prepared to fight. The trials we’ve faced because of your disgusting actions have changed us all, but it has also proven our strength.” He paused for a moment to think. “Minnowpaw, Spiderpaw, Pinepaw, please step forward.”

Murmurs rang through the camp, the three apprentices slowly pushing through the crowd to stand near Pigeonpaw. None of them looked at her, instead focusing their confused expressions on Harrierheart. With a quick mumble to Honeystar, Harrierstar continued his impromptu ceremony.

“You three have trained endlessly to help your clan in these terrible times. You’ve worked harder than any of us to hold up our crumbling clans and feed our wounded warriors. Such young cats should never have to face such a desolate world, and yet here you are, taking it all in stride. This past moon you have proven your strength in the face of death and despair. It is with great hope that I call upon a new era of Thunderclan. A new era for both of our clans. One in which we are not stuck in our dens, hiding from Riverclan and their infiltrators. An era where we fight back against our oppressors and reclaim the forest for Starclan and it’s followers.”

Several cats yowled their approval, their cries echoing menacingly against the barren trees of leaf-fall. Pigeonpaw suppressed a shudder at the frightening sound, crouching low to the ground as she tried to will herself out of the camp.

“I, Harrierstar, leader of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn.” He paused as more cats voiced their approval, continuing once the quieted. “Mark these apprentices as the first of many strong cats to become warriors in the clans’ new era. Help us show Riverclan the strength of the warrior code!”

“Minnowpaw, Spiderpaw, Pinepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?”

The three apprentices each beamed with different levels of confidence, pride in their clan shining through their eyes. Spiderpaw was the first to loudly declare “I do,” and the other two were quick to echo his words.

Harrierstar sent Pigeonpaw one last triumphant glance before continuing. “Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior names. Minnowpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Minnowstream. StarClan honors your strength and intelligence. Spiderpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Spiderfang. StarClan honors your courage and resilience. Pinepaw, from this moment on you will be known as Pinepelt. StarClan honors your energy and optimism.”

The two clans erupted in passionate shouting, calling out each of the new warriors’ names. Every cat seemed to be rejuvenated by the news that they’d finally exiled the right cat, that their clans could finally regain their strength and fight.

When the shouting began to calm down, Honeystar seized the opportunity, giving Harrierstar an almost congratulatory look before addressing the clans herself.

“We will never forget the cats we have lost this past moon, but now that we have freed ourselves from this curse, we will grow to be even stronger than before. Riverclan will tremble before us! We won’t stand for their evils anymore!

The clan cats yowled once more in approval, silencing as Honeystar motioned over a single cat. Lionwhisker stepped out of the crowd, glaring at Pigeonpaw as he passed by. “Lionwhisker,” Honeystar called. “You have proven your loyalty to Windclan over the moons. May your strength and skill help guide you as Windclan’s deputy.”

A roar of Lionwhisker’s name swept through the clan, and the new deputy dipped his head in thanks before turning to Pigeonpaw. He joined Bubblefur at the murderer’s side, glaring at her until she stood. Glancing up at the highrock, Lionwhisker nodded to Harrierstar before pushing Pigeonpaw out of the camp. Bubblefur lead the way, and Pigeonpaw reluctantly followed, keeping herself low to the ground even as she trudged forwards.

Pigeonpaw followed Bubblefur through Thunderclan territory, trying to keep her head up despite the circumstances of their walk. She couldn’t wrap her mind around what had just happened; she had sacrificed everything for this clan. She risked her neck just to keep them safe, and yet her clanmates had turned on her so quickly. One vote was all it took, and everyone just fell into place.

Guilt clung to her pelt, making her steps feel heavy and awkward, but a separate anxiousness was consuming her thoughts. What do I do now? I was exiled way too quickly, Riverclan will surely…

“Alright,” Lionwhisker grumbled, “this is where we stop.”

Pigeonpaw looked at the two toms with confused eyes. “The Thunderpath…?”

“Walk across and you’ll be out of our territory.” The ginger tom explained. “Hurry along.”

“You're welcome to get hit by a monster if you like,” Bubblefur added, eyes widening when he realized what he’d said.

Pigeonpaw’s pelt prickled at the usually kind tom’s cold tone. Staring down at the black, rough path, she felt fear sinking into her. She turned her head, beginning to beg the two toms for mercy and to lead her somewhere safer. They both unsheathed their claws; Lionwhisker looking especially threatening as he bared his teeth and lowered his ears. The young she-cat stared at them, disbelief darkening her eyes, then turned back towards the Thunderpath with her tail low and twitching nervously from in between her legs. Despite her fear, she managed to force herself to work her way across black, rough path. She flattened her ears as one of the toms made a comment she couldn’t quite hear, but their harsh tone enough to get across the message. Increasing in speed, she pushed past the bushy barrier of the thunderpath, into unknown territory.

Her paws carried her while her mind worried away, worrying about every little part of her situation. She would never join Riverclan, but she didn’t want to be a rogue. Would Shadowclan accept her? Would Riverclan kill her when they realized she’d failed? Would she ever feel safe again?

Suddenly a twig snapped, sending the already frightened and jumpy apprentice running. She launched herself forwards, running like a hare as she crashed through unfamiliar grasses and onto strange banks. Only when her paws slipped on mud did she skid to a stop, her face barely escaping getting splattered with dirt and grime. She reeled back, crouching close to the ground as she squeezed her eyes shut. She felt so small- tiny and terrified, like a kit let out of the camp too early. She couldn’t do this she couldn’t do this she couldn’t do this-

“Pigeonpaw?” A strange yet familiar voice froze the molly's heart. She felt like she had heard a friend, but what if that was the voice of a ShadowClan cat? She remained still for a moment longer, sniffing the air to see how she should respond to the voice. She smelled the strong scent of ShadowClan, but nothing that resembled a cat. She smelled water and could tell that it was coming from beside the lake. Backing away from the water, Pigeonpaw withdrew her claws and arched her back in a threatening manner. She bared her teeth, feeling a growl form in her throat although she was sure she'd only let out a frightened squeak.

Some bushes from beside the lake rustled a bit more until a wet, brown creature named Aeron emerged from it. “Hey, I was right!” The beaver exclaimed, but her cheerfulness quickly changed once she saw just how stressed the young molly looked. “What's wrong? Is everything all right?”

“... No.”

A moment of silence passed. “Who got exiled?” Aeron asked and Pigeonpaw slowly looked towards the brown rodent but was unable to meet her gaze or answer her question. Luckily for her, the rodent understood exactly what she meant. “No way… What happened?”

“I was voted out. Everyone voted for me and I could feel the hate in their eyes. I could feel the hate of both Clans...” Pigeonpaw blurted out, feeling her legs trembling as she replayed being pushed towards Harrierstar and Honeystar, then Bubblefur's harsh words as he forced her to cross the thunderpath Willowstar was flattened on.

Aeron made a noise resembling beaver curiousity, then shifted a bit. Hesitantly, she asked, “Why does that hurt you so much?” Pigeonpaw looked up at the beaver with surprise and through narrowed eyes. “I mean, you were trying to kill Thunder and WindClan cats for a reason, right? Their opinion of you now shouldn't matter, you know RiverClan will accept and appreciate you.”

The cream colored she-cat's ears fell flat and she glanced around nervously, like she was worried someone was listening in on the two's conversation. She looked back at the beaver, considering her options. She tried remembering the moments she had with the animal on their down-time, whenever the two weren't particularly focused on killing cats in various ways. She thought back on before all of this had even started, when RiverClan was introducing her to her new beaver assistant. Aeron was very fun and bubbly, and the two strangely hit it off quickly; learning each other's languages and sharing interests. The intellect of the two made it especially easy for them to get along, but that all could've been a trap or some sort of trick for this exact moment. Pigeonpaw stared at her paws, flexing her claws a bit as she thought about how she'd respond.

If she lied, Aeron might see through it and that'd likely get her in more trouble than she already put herself in. If she told the truth, there was an endless list of what could happen. She could get killed on the spot,l - which would probably satisfy any ThunderClan cat right about now - or the beaver could let RiverClan's cats take care of her. Aeron could also just keep her secret and convince Pigeonpaw to be loyal to RiverClan, or something else might happen... Something surprising, maybe.

The she-cat looked Aeron up and down once more. Although she was a bit gruesome, she didn't seem like a manipulative monster. The two seemed to genuinely be friends- and surely Aeron wouldn't kill a friend. Right? “Are we friends, Aeron?” Pigeonpaw meowed suddenly, and Aeron's tiny ears perked up in surprise. She nodded, her dark eyes narrowed with curiosity. “Can you keep a secret?”

“Yeah..? What's going on, Pigeonpaw?”

The ticked tabby looked around her surroundings one more time, then edged closer to Aeron until she was close enough for the beaver to hear her as she whispered, “Well... I was never loyal to RiverClan. My loyalty remained with WindClan, always, even after being recruited.” When Aeron said nothing, she decided that it was too late to turn back. She may as well tell the whole story. “When RiverClan asked me to become their little infiltrator, I realized that I had a chance to save my Clan, even if it cost my life. I decided that when I was exiled, they should have enough trust in me to never suspect that I would betray them. Once exiled, I'd head to their camp and begin planning each of their deaths and destroy them from the inside. I'd kill some in battle or with poison. I'd murder their kits and take out their apprentices. I'd harm them so badly that there'd be no way that WindClan could lose against them. I'd-”

“Pigeon, Pigeon! Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.” The light-colored apprentice felt her fur raising as the beaver pulled her ear away from her. She knew the power of the rodent's fangs. Was she going to kill her right there right now?

“What are you going to do?”

“N-nothing. I'm sorry if I scared you, but you're scaring me. You said you had no siblings, right?” The molly nodded with a worried and slightly expression on her face. “This is so crazy… We came up with the exact same plan!”

“E-excuse me?”

“Well, almost. I'm helping ShadowClan out, not WindClan.”

What?

“Basically, whenever my beaver colony left our old home, the first Clan we met was ShadowClan. They were really nice and didn't mind all the extra friends on their territory. Although we didn't completely understand each other at first, the Clan was patient enough to try to learn our language and to teach us theirs. Since us beavers required a lot of water to live, ShadowClan told us that another group of cats called ‘RiverClan’ shouldn't mind sharing their territory with us. They sort of don't, but at the same time they're incredibly rude, bossy, and expect us to do everything for them while they just sit back and watch us do their dirty work. We told ShadowClan this and we decided that we should take RiverClan out from the inside.” Aeron explained, “Once we got rid of them, the war between RiverClan and everyone else will be over, and us beavers and ShadowClan will share the land. We just need their trust first, otherwise they'll kill my colony without hesitation.”

Pigeonpaw was shocked. “Well that explains why you're in ShadowClan's territory now... You were really planning this the entire time?”

“Yep, and probably around the time you created your plan. I swear we’re long lost siblings, you just ended up as a cat.” Aeron exclaimed. Pigeonpaw let out a small chortle, feeling slightly better, but she wasn't quite sure how to feel about having to become a loyal member of RiverClan. Not to mention that she still felt hurt from the hatred the two Clans had shown her. Aeron could sense that the small apprentice had a lot going through her mind. “Pigeonpaw, I really don't recommend being a RiverClan cat. Why don't you become loyal to ShadowClan instead? They're very nice and []i]won't[/i] force you to fight your own Clan to the death.”

“ShadowClan…?” The young apprentice forgot that was even an option. There was no way she was going to become loyal to RiverClan and neither Thunder nor WindClan would trust her after what she’d done. “Uh… Sure, why not?” The she-cat said slowly, still thinking about WindClan.

“Great! Once RiverClan fully gains our trust we'll commence with our plan, but first, I need to see a smile on your face. Follow me.” Pigeonpaw tilted her head to the side as she watched Aeron waddle back towards ThunderClan's territory. The cream-colored apprentice followed her and felt her pelt bristle as the beaver led her across the thunderpath, waddling as fast as she could so no monster could catch her.

Eventually, Aeron had brought Pigeonpaw back towards the stepping stones that lead towards RiverClan's territory. A little past the stones Pigeonpaw noticed a bunch of beavers pulling Lizardfang from a huge pile of sticks and mud. So that's what they meant when they said that she was turned into a log, Pigeonpaw mused. How unfortunate. Aeron swam past the dam while Pigeonpaw leapt across the river using the stepping stones. When the beaver emerged from the waters again, she had something in her teeth. It looked like a two-leg thing but also beaver-made at the same time. It was made out of some strange, white, stringy material and had a feather hanging from it.

“What's that?”

“It's a friendship band,” Aeron explained, stepping towards the apprentice. “My mother made it for me when I was little. She gave it to me because I was her bestest friend in the world, and she was mine.” Pigeonpaw watched as the beaver got on her back two feet and used her strange paws to wrap the friendship band around Pigeonpaw’s leg. “But, now that she's… gone, there's been no one to wear her band. Not until you came around, anyways.”

“A-Aeron, are you sure?”

“Yeah! We're best friends, right?” The beaver answered, then looked back down at the band. “Well, that's what the bands mean. We're best friends and nothing's going to change that.”

“Aeron!”

“I was meaning to give it to you later on when I knew for sure we were besties, but I decided now was a good time too. My mother gave that to me to cheer me up so I guess it'll do the same for you.” Pigeonpaw looked at the beaver, her eyes shining with joy. In ShadowClan, she had a friendship like no other. This was nothing she could find in WindClan or ThunderClan. Nothing she could ever get in RiverClan. She rubbed her head against the beaver's, thankful to have such a creature in her life.

“Thank you so much, Aeron. I'll treasure this forever.”

You've exiled a killer, but something tells you this isn't the end...
Pigeonpaw wasn't killing alone, Thunderclan. You've still got a long way to go.
