Rank -- Medicine Cat
Short Description -- Spiraeapelt is a long-haired blue (grey) cat with a solid colour pelt; non-tabby and no white spotting. He has bright amber eyes that look very striking and a well-formed face. He's of the opinion that medicine cats not being allowed to have mates is stupid. (If you want a thorough examination of why, that's largely my point in my clan in Create a Clan, and you're very welcome to look through my posts for my clan. Spiraeapelt is a very obviously renamed Harrierpelt, but Saffronstream is probably the guy to go for if you just want that.)
Spiraea was born a show cat, and had his claws removed at an early age to help charm the judges. He also has unnaturally pointed ears due to further attempts to impress the cat show judges. He ran away as a kitten, fed up with the ridiculous nonsense his humans seemed to think he would put up with, and met some thunderclan cats. Having had his claws removed - and not wanting to have anything to do with inducing pain due to what he'd gone through as a show cat - he did very very poorly as a warrior apprentice and soon switched over to being a medicine cat apprentice, which he loved.
He doesn't often show that love.
Spiraeapelt is grumpy and snarky, but that is most definitely a front. He loves kits, he loves apprentices. He just doesn't want to encourage anyone to get hurt and making them think being in his den is unpleasant is a decent way to discourage anyone from doing anything risky and stupid. He's far warmer to kits and apprentices and to his mate and his own kits, let's be frank, to the extent that most cats only realise why he has a grumpy reputation with the warriors after their first injury in a battle, and quite the level of it, after their first really stupid injury. Spiraeapelt hates the level of clan territoriality that there is as it keeps generating more injuries, and ultimately more deaths in those who never fully recover from their wounds despite his best efforts. He always tries to discourage conflict (and is thus probably a cat with some fairly high level of responsibility in looking after the refugees from Windclan).
He holds a very professional tone and would trust any apprentice of his strongly (and any child of his). He rarely panics or acts scared, instead acting more formal or grumpy to hide that up. He's unafraid to criticise others but he'll rarely do this to leadership with any genuine hostility. The leadership generally know that he's exaggerating to keep up his reputation.
