The young deputy glanced at Woodheart, then back at Gempaw and Spiritwish "Yeah, Gempaw and Spiritwish seem to be hunting for training today. You can join them if you want."

Woodenheart

Woodenheart turned to look at Spiritwish and Gempaw. "Alright, sure! Thanks!" She mewed before she followed the mentor and apprentice.

Gempaw

Gempaw trotted slightly ahead of the two warriors as they made their way to the lake. "Normally I don't like to get my fur wet, but maybe it would be fun to take a shot at fishing?" She wondered aloud, nearly tripping over a tree root as she got distracted by her thoughts. Once they arrived at the lake, Gempaw began to make her way down to the edge of the water, before stopping dead in her tracks as she picked up the stench of death. Instantly folding her ears back and fluffing out her fur, the tabby couldn't quite urge herself forwards, scared of what she may find.

Woodenheart

Woodenheart noticed Gempaw's strange behavior. "Water isn't that bad." The brown tabby warrior meowed, trying to comfort the apprentice. "Here, I'll show y-" She took a few steps toward the lake and saw the dead bodies of Yewpaw and Rabbitfur. "N-no... No.... No.... NO!" Woodenheart shrieked. She began panicking. "H-H-HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?"

The she cat bounded over to Woodenheart, pressing against her comfortingly while also hoping to block Gempaw's view of the bodies.
"Come on now, just sit down and breathe." She directed the the she. She wasn't going to lie, her anxiety was threatening to engulf her, but she forced it down,
her clanmates needed her calm. She turned to Gempaw.
"Gempaw, go back to camp and tell Tornadostorm we found Rabbitfur and Yewpaw." She turned back to Woodenheart.
"Everything will be okay." She murmured softly, dying to believe her own words.

Sweetfang

The she-cat had awoken with a start, as she was on the moonhigh patrol. But as she emerged from the warrior den, she quickly trotted towards her apprentice's den and poked her head inside. "Yewpaw?" Not hearing or scenting the young apprentice, the warrior frowned. Maybe she went out with another mentor? But I promised to teach her some new hunting crouches. The warrior then decided to try and track her apprentice's scent out of camp to see if she could locate the friendly she-cat.

Gempaw

Gempaw listened to her mentor's orders, but was still scared of what was going on. "What is that smell? What are Rabbitfur and-" Gempaw fell silent as she pieced two and two together. The two missing cats were dead, and she had narrowly missed discovering them. Still appearing terrified, she held back a scream before turning tail and making her way back to camp, rushing past Sweetfang in the process. Her fur got caught on the entrance to the camp, but she didn't have time to think about her messy appearance as she ran up to Tornadostorm. "Tornadostorm! We found Yewpaw and Rabbitfur at the lake. I didn't see anything, b-but the smells... I think they're dead!" Gempaw failed to keep her voice steady as she tried to explain what had happened, with the words she said instead coming out shaky and rushed. How could something have happened to her clanmates? She had been in the den with Yewpaw. How didn't she notice her leave?
