Pikeheart nodded at Jaystar's acceptance of her reasoning. She was glad that their leader has not argued with her. Her gaze turned and drifted towards the camp entrance, Shortclaw was out there somewhere. Hopefully he was fine but she had a niggling feeling in her but that something terrible had happened, and by the way everyone else was acting she wasn't the only one.

Pebblefang shook his head as Dandeliontail asked if anybody had seen Shortclaw. He greeted his son with a twitch of his ears, then he meowed: "I don't think he went for a hunt because I've been up for a while now and I haven't seen him. I hope nothing happened to him!" After the other adult cats left, he stayed by the kits, watching them and thinking about where Shortclaw could be.

while he waited for the kits' reply to his game offer, he thought about where shortclaw might've gone hunting. there's pretty good hunting towards the shadowclan border... he noted, swishing his tail thoughtfully. oh, or maybe the sky oak! there's lots of squirrels there! although i've never caught a squirrel... or maybe..! oh, and...! he kept listing places in his mind, zoning out.

Dandeliontail sat back with his brother and observed the kits who were playing in the clearing. He sighed and looked up at Pebblefang "Let's pray to starclan that he's well... This behaviour is so unlike shortclaw..." he said.

Yewpaw's eyes slid open to the sounds of cats talking in the camp. Her ears flicked at the noise as she tried to curl back up in her nest when she noticed... It's almost sunhigh! the apprentice realized with a jolt, hastily jumping to her paws and lapping a couple of times at her pelt to straighten it out. She scrambled through the exit of the den and broke out into the clearing in the middle of camp. She felt a slight twinge of tensity, but otherwise she was assured that everything was fine. She bounded up to Jaystar, her leader and mentor, who was speaking with Pikeheart. She felt that the slight bit of tension was more focused here, but she tried to brush it off to greet Jaystar,who, to the apprentice's disappointment, had just left for a patrol. "Oh, uh, hello, Pikeheart!"
