jaystar looked over at dandeliontail for a second, then sapkit, and nodded, before looking back over at ferntail, "if shortclaw isnt anywhere to be found, im coming with with you too." jaystar meowed in reply to ferntail, "he's my deputy, i want to come along and see if i could try and find where he is, its unlike him to leave camp without sending patrols."

she nodded, and ran off to find the apprentices. this whole thing was sketchy... ferntail only hoped shortclaw was fine.
both apprentices we're still asleep, so she shook them awake. we're going on patrol, and you're coming! get up and let's go! shortclaw is missing, and so we're the search party.

Smokewhisker stepped up to Jaystar. "could I come with?" in the event something did happen to Shortclaw, Smokewhisker felt uneasy letting his mate go, even if she was accompanied by Jaystar and other cats.

Pikeheart licked Sapkit on her head, "Later my sweet. Go and play with the other kits for now. I need to speak to Jaystar." She pushed her way though the cats until she stood in front of their leader. "If you're going out to look for Shortclaw then I am coming too. He's my mate. He's my responsibility. Sapkit can be looked after here by the others." She said. It had always been obvious she had never wanted kits and as much as she loved Sapkit she loved Shortclaw even more. She didn't know what she would do if anything had happened to him.

jaystar nodded at smokewhisker, "of course, i dont see why not." she meowed, then turned to face pikeheart, "and yes, you can too. infact, i was about to come and ask if you wanted to come along." she continued "i just dont want to bring the entire clan with us to find someone." she added on, hoping no one else wanted to come along. shortclaw was important, but they would probably find that he was just hunting, or wanted a short break from his duties and needed fresh air.

he blinked as he watched the cats form a patrol to look for shortclaw. a part of him wanted to join it, but he knew that they only needed so many cats to find the deputy, not the entire clan. instead, he turned and bounded over to the kits, amber eyes bright. "want to play moss ball?" he asked cheerfully, sitting down in front of them. "i'll throw it and you can catch it!" if he couldn't help search for the deputy, he could at least entertain the kits to stop them from worrying.

Scatterslash glared at the big group and retreated back to the Warrior's den slowly. "I think I'll pass, thanks... You guys know how I like to hunt alone, let alone go in a big search party..." She hissed quietly, sneaking back inside the warrior's den and laying back on her mossy patch, falling slowly back asleep.

Spiritpaw scrambled to his paws feeling the warm sun hit his face. Without even taking a moment to stretch or fully let his body wake up he was out of the apprentice den, his green eyes straining against the bright light of the sun. He frowned as he noticed the disoriented state of camp, many cats were still asleep despite the late time and it appeared as though no patrols had left yet. With a small sigh the small brown tom seated himself outside the apprentice den, frustrated at his unnecessary rush.

Smokewhisker smiled a little and bowed his head. "Thank you." He waited patiently, wondering when they were leaving, and stayed close to his mate.
