He looked over at Pebblefang and exclaimed, "Ah!Pebblefang, didn't know you were up yet!" He looked around camp. It was a lot less busier than usual, and shortclaw was no where to be seen! "Have any of you seen Shortclaw? It's very unlike him to sleep until now..." he said.

hmm? oh, hey, smokewhisker. shortclaw's not up, so I don't think Dawn patrol is out... maybe we should go and take it ourselves. she licked a stray piece of furniture sticking up on his head. it's quite unlike him to not be up.

Scatterslash awoke to the mumbled cries of a missing Shortclaw. "Ughhh... Why does everyone have to be so loud all the time...?" She hissed quietly. She sat up and sighed, spotting Pebblefang outside. She smiled and got up, padding over to him. "Hello father, Dandeliontail... I honestly haven't seen him at all... but I've been sleeping so uhh..."

Pikeheart had been awake since Sapkit had been, she remained in her den because she trusted that Shortclaw would be able to keep an eye on their kit. She licked one of her paws and drew it over her head, doing her best to make herself look presentable. Finally she stood up, pushing her way out of the nursery. Shortclaw was nowhere to be seen. It seemed that none of the others knew where her mate was either. "Where is he? It isn't like him to go off on his own?" She tried to hide the worry in her voice for fear of upsetting the kits, hopefully she just sounded intrigued.

jaystar emerged from her den and stretched herself out, looking over at her clan. most of them were awake, but it was clear something wasnt right. carefully, she jumped down from the highrock and padded over to a group of cats, "whats going on here?" the silver leader asked, curiosity in her eyes.

Smokewhisker nodded, frowning slightly in worry. "Well, let's go out. Maybe someone knows what happened to him." he proposed, but by the voices he could hear from outside, he was quite sure that not.

copperpaw --
the apprentice turned his head at pikeheart's voice, flicking his ears. "i bet he woke up real early to go hunting!" copperpaw mewed to the queen, giving her a smile. she didn't seem too concerned, but the young tom still felt like reassuring her- although he was far from being the most reassuring cat. "i mean, he is deputy after all, and the fresh-kill pile is a little low, so he probably wanted to help out and bring back some prey before everyone woke up!" he beamed at his theory; it sounded like a good one to him! that's what he believed, anyways. why else would he possibly be gone? he pricked his ears as he heard jaystar's voice, and turned to watch the leader.

He left the kits shortly and joined a group of older cats. Jaystar also looked very confused about this situation. "Shortclaw is nowhere to be found..." he said in a serious tone.

well, let me tell jaystar's first. ferntail padded over to her sister. shortclaw's not up, so patrols haven't been sent out. me and smokewhisker are going to take cats out for dawn patrol. she brushed her tail along her back, and gathered some cats. singepaw, goldpaw, we're going on a late dawn patrol. scatterslash, you want to come?

"Mama, where's dada? I want to play with him!" she asked her mama. Even though her mother was attempting to hide her worry, she still sensed it. "Is something wrong mama?" the she-kit asked her mother. She spun around when she heard Jaystar's voice. "Dada's missing! He's always up by now!" she cried.
