"Young Venom," Heather purred, "I hear you have excelled in your training. You shall be rewarded greatly." He made sure nobody was listening before continuing. "As long as you are loyal to this group, you may have first pick of the killprey every day and feathers in your nest away from any drafts." His blue eyes twinkled. "All I need on your behalf is for you to let me know if anyone misbehave. Have we got a deal?"

Venom felt a shiver being sent down her spine, did Heather know about her mentor? "D-deal," She stammered without thinking of her words.

"Good." Heather smiled and licked the young cat's forehead, smoothing a tuft of fur flat. "You may take your pick from the preyhole now."

Venom nodded and padded away towards the preyhole, she picked up a rabbit and chose a spot to have her prey. She ate her rabbit as she thought about her mistake.

Slash padded over to Venom. "It appears you've managed to get on my father's good side!" She mewed.

Venom forced herself to smile at Slash "He's a great cat," She forced the words out of her mouth, she felt as if someone just sunk their claws deep into her heart.

"Yes, he is." Slash agreed. "He took us all in and cared for us. I know he's threatened us all at least once, but so far he's not killed anyone. I'm not sure your mentor will last much longer." She looked at her paws. "See, I try to stay on his good side most of the time, if not all. I may not have friends by doing so, but it's better than being dead. Don't you try to rebel against his leadership though. Even if someone chased him put, Heather would come back stronger."

Venom curled her tail around her paws and slowly nodded "Don't worry, I'll be your friend, if that's alright," She meowed, she decided to befriend her leader's daughter.

"Alright!" Slash purred. "So... my father and I, we're not really the jerks everyone thinks we are?"
