Sabarah
Nickname
If anything, Saba, but I prefer nicknames to develop by themselves. Nicknames are something from the heart.
Gender
Male
Looks
Sabarah has medium-colored brown hair that is tinted with deep ginger. One could consider him a red-head, though his hair is actually a dark auburn. It's very thick and fairly long since the choppy layers reach down to the center of his cheeks in the front and in the back it goes down to the base (pretty much the bottom) of his neck. His long bangs slightly cover his eyes, but he doesn't seem to mind since he never bothers to brush them out of his face. His ears are hidden behind the straight hair. His eyes are a cool, muted blue with a hint of gray, resembling the colors of a midwinter sky. The numbers of shades of blue hidden away in his eyes are remarkable, as there are many darker and lighter colors. Around the outer edge of the iris is a dark blue rim that makes his eyes look sharp and alert (though this is usually not the case during classes). They never seem to contain the same emotion, and they can jump from being very innocent-appearing to malevolent. Though his emotions are often betrayed through his eyes, Sabarah does not often seem to be affected by what they reflect.
He has a well-toned frame because he loves to run and play sports. Sabarah is not bulky or stocky with muscle, but has a very slim and fit body. His natural skin tone is a very light color, but a slight tan is not uncommon for him in the summer. Sabarah's attire normally consists of neutral colors, similar to his eyes. Normally, he wears a pair of kaki cargo pants, the color of light earth, with a black T-shirt with a white ‘+’ in the direct center. He also wears a black zip-up hoodie, which is always kept unzipped. The zipper is a dull silver color. He always keeps his hood off, but if you flip it over his head, he only brushes it off with an un-amused sort of expression. He also wears dog tags around his neck. One of the tags reads ‘Sabarah,’ and the other has on it his date of birth. He keeps them in top condition, usually polishing them at least once a day. He wears black shoes with a white stripe along the bottom, white soles and white laces.
Powers
Sabarah has been granted with the gift of flying. His wolf form is graced with giant red-brown, leathery wings with feathers sprouting sparingly near the tips.
Personality
Sabarah has always had a determined attitude. Maybe it was his past that gave him this rugged attribute, or maybe it was passed down by his father. Though he tends to be independent, he is oddly enough a very outgoing type of person. Although he doesn’t regularly reveal it, due to the patience he also bears, he has a fiery temper. Once you make him irritated, usually the victim of his heated emotions or others in the area won't notice until it's too late. He has nasty ways of biting back, either regaining revenge by using sharp retorts or nasty put-downs to beat the sufferer into the submissive position that he wants them in. In the end, it is never a pleasant experience to be caught with Sabarah if you’ve said anything to highly offend him or his friends. But he also has all-out anger, where he completely explodes on the spot into fountains of fury and intense rage. But he only resorts to ‘letting loose’ when he sees no other choice.
Sabarah not only verbally attacks other people, but will physically attack them if they are being too provocative. If they ask for a fight, Sabarah will give them just that (with the hopes that he will gain the title ‘winner’ in the end). Hot blood runs through his veins, and, since it is only natural, he is easily drawn into a battle. So far at the school, he has gotten into three fights, only being successful in one. And, even when things look rough, he would never be the one to back down (usually these heated fights are either stopped by the principle, the teachers, or some other kids.) But, no matter how aggravating they may be at times, Saba would never dare hit a girl.
Mentioned previously, Sabarah has a sort of patience about him, and he strives to make light of the darkness that forms around him constantly. Dig deep down, and if you ignore what your only your eyes can see of his appearance, he has a very tender and caring heart, and usually desires the best for people (unless he is agitated, but that is another story). He can create an odd, uplifting effect on those around him with the tones of his voice, and he often finds the time to help a friend in need of encouragement. Around a crowd that he isn’t familiar with, Sabarah’s aim is to not draw much attention. Like a shadow he hovers about aimlessly, trying not to get in anyone’s way and to stay out of sight. But around acquaintances, he is a completely different being. He is outgoing and altogether enjoyable to be around. He pictures himself as the leader of his ‘circle of friends,’ thinking he can easily direct them to believe or do what he expects of them. He presumes that they will follow him in whatever he chooses, but that is often not the case. He sometimes thinks very highly of himself, and often needs to be put in his place by someone.
Sabarah could be considered ‘the heart of mischief,’ as he is always crawling down a hole made by trouble itself and getting stuck in it (the very reason why many don’t follow him in what he’s doing anymore.)
His intentions are usually good, and will try to please anyone who has the patience and endurance to gain his friendship. Though at time he can seem heartless and cold, the truth is, he has the essence of a child. Since no one had the time to take care of him during his earlier years, he still has many child-like attributes. If he thinks no one is looking or paying attention, he will catch the leaves that flutter down with feather-like motions in the days of autumn and will try out nearly anything he thinks seems fun (so long as it won’t ruin his reputation or end with his friends thinking he’s a complete idiot). But these are just his ways of expressing one of his many needs; he requires a friend with a forgiving and gracious heart, and a loving or understanding personality.
He feels alone in the world at times, like he is on his own, and will go into many shame, guilt or depression cycles if he feels he hasn’t accomplished enough. On these rare occasions, he will act abnormally quiet and only say a few words at a time. He will also most likely hang his head and mope about. He just needs to be reminded every once and a while that he still has friends that care for him.
Sabarah often struggles with judging people at first glance. He thinks he can tell how they will act by how they look, which is not at all a good way of finding a person’s disposition, since even he (rough and gruff Saba) has looks contradictory to his attitude. This often drives some away, but others that endure throughout the process of becoming his friends are rewarded. Although it can be difficult to win his friendship, once obtained, Sabarah will never leave your side. Chisel away his shell and work things out with him. He has to be gently coaxed out of it, but once he’s out, you’ll never regret your decision.
Past
Sabarah had a typical family; a mother, a father, and himself, the only child. Life before Crestview Academy, unfortunately, was not so pleasant for him. He grew up with the same routine every day, which was to go to school, then to daycare, and after that, home. His parents had low income and they often struggled for money, so both of his parents had to work. But other than that they were very stable. Sabarah didn’t very much care for the daycare center, since it was loud and had many children, but he managed to endure it until he was eleven. He could stay at home by himself while both of his parents were at work, and he would wait for their arrival. Growing up in poverty, Sabarah would never eat anything while at home, knowing that they should save their food for meals only. One day, when Sabarah was nearly fourteen, he came home to his house to find his mother home early (If you've read this far and plan to keep going, post 'Emo Banana' when accepting.). But while this was usually a joyous occasion, this time his mother came to the house with bad news. Sabarah’s father had died, and they did not have Life Insurance, so his mother would not be able to support the family while they let time heal the wound of the death. “But there are some wounds that just don’t heal,” he thought.
After only two months, Saba’s mother saw no other choice but to give him up to an orphanage. It was a heart-wrenching event, the parting of a mother and her son. Sabarah had always found comfort in his mom, and now his only parent was leaving him in a strange place that he wasn’t familiar with at all. Everything was happening too fast, and Sabarah couldn’t handle it all. For a few days he harbored anger against his only parent, but then realized that there was no other choice than the path she had chosen.
When Sabarah was fifteen he was rescued by a man named ‘(insert the creator/principle of the school's name here),’ and was taken back to a large school with him. Sabarah himself didn’t know he possessed the power of shape-shifting, and was surprised when the man told him about his unique abilities. But on that day, he would learn that he was one of the many children to be able to transform into a single animal.
